mcann was hit on the hand on a swing, he tried to stay in but let a ball roll to the backstop

it's the same hand he hurt a few weeks ago

hopefully it isn't too serious

(mark redman is still fucking horrible)

Hand got hit on a catchers interference play....then he looked like he couldn't turn his glove over(hand that got hit), and a runner scored on a past ball, so Bobby pulled him.

well he walked howard to load the bases on four pitches

then walked burrell on a full count

now we trail 4-3, this is worse than his start in florida

there is no way we can keep this guy

redman has 7+ years of service time which means he can't be designated for assignment without his approval (players with >5 years of service have to approve demotions to the minors)

so the braves would likely release him, although i can't see anyone else wanting to sign him so maybe he'll accept assignment

fun fact: mark redman's baseball reference id is redmama01

[Edited on May 1, 2007 at 8:46 PM. Reason : how sad is it that we're eagerly awaiting the return of lance cormier? :\]

What is really sad is that Redman was an all star with the Royals last year (I think). How shitty were the Royals!?

Watching him pitch though makes me think I could hit his old ass. I think Villareal should be put into the rotation and Redman used in long relief blow out type games. The back end of the Braves rotation with Davies, Redman, and eventually Cormier =

They said during the game last night that Villareal could make it to a starting position.

WE GET KOLB'D AGAIN!

2004 - Dan Kolb, all-star closer for the Milwaukee Brewers
2005 - Dan Kolb, used in positions where saves must be blown by the Atlanta Braves.

I guess McCann and Pena are both still hurting from last night's game. Did either go on the DL or did they send someone else down?

Salty is not ready for the bigs yet, but it sounds like the Braves don't have any choice. McCann's job is secure regardless of what Salty can do while he's out.

You should trade him before his value drops. The guy could have brought back a pretty good 2 or 3 last year for a team that needs a C.

doubt it last year.. he really struggled batting .230 with 9 HR's and 39 RBI
.. if we trade him I bet it will be this year, as he's batting .309 with 6 HR's and 13 RBI already

surprised I didn't see this topic at the top.

how about salty throwing out the first runner who tried to steal on him to end an inning....and then he almost hit a homerun...came about a few feet short in just about straight away center field

Willie Harris ftw.......an improvement over langerhans already. I believe in 3 games he already has more hits than Langerhans had all year

As I was saying back during spring training (see previous pages), the Braves should have kept Harris on the roster all along. He tore it up during spring training, has speed, and can play 5 positions. Langerhans is going to wind up without a team soon.

Salty meh?? He looked pretty good last night. He almost had a HR, smoked a pitch just-foul with two on later in the game before getting hit by a pitch, and also took a walk. That right there is better than 75% of the catchers in baseball (granted it was one game).

McCann is the future at C, but I think Salt could make a good first baseman. If we do try to move him, we better get a solid arm in return.

what i meant by meh was more like, for all the hype, i wasn't crazy impressed. i did like the walk and the throw to second to get that one dude. i could see him going to first if he's willing. looks like he could handle it. beats the platoon.

no, not sizing him up. i just thought it was funny lil willie outplayed him last night, seeing as the whole world lit up when he was called up for the game. i like him, have seen him play a few times in person, just wasn't impressed last night
