GGAHT is a hard ass song. only song I can't beat on expert guitar. I failed at 95% one time and two times on 85/84. I want to play it on a guitarhero controller though.. it would be way easiiiieer

I'd recommend it, especially if you have buddies come over that like GH.

BTW, what song is GGHAT you keep refering to? I can't think of it...

finally was able to send a request for 2nd guitar after 2 weeks
the quiet strum bar is nice and all, but they really need to make a guitar with a clicky strum bar.

I have the 3 song OXM disc if anyone wants to borrow it. The fucking magazine was 10 bucks, so if you could spare a buck, I could meet you somewhere on campus and let you "rent" it and get it back after you install the song.

Its a must if you like Freezepop.

for the drum pedal, i'll repeat my post from late December

for the kick pedal, I came up with my own repair after a crack started showing late last night

you need about $20 and some electrical tape and a bit of nig in your system

head down to a autozone, pep boys, or other such auto supply shop

buy a set of those cheese dick "racing" pedals (foot print style preferred but not available where I went)

take the gas pedal one and just tape that sucker on the kick pedal as shown here

i wish i could send it. i've had to manually remake it multiple times just to get it on my other characters.

you can make it yourself like i did. it's not really hard. i noticed they had the shape for the stars of the logo in the create art section so i got the idea to make a steelers logo.

it's funny though. i play online and people make all kinds of comments. most common is "WHOA how do you get NFL team logos??!!"

My god GGAHT, I'm not that great on drums, I was playing on medium yesterday and I had to do the training for like 30 mins just to get through that insane beat at the end.

On GGAHT, it really helps to be conscious of your overdrive meter. If you keep avoiding the crash at the end, you'll get a lot of fill sections when you can recover. Then activate overdrive only when you're about to fail

oh I save myself at least 5 times with overdrive during the 2 long ass solos. it's just at 84% where the second mercilessly long string of hammer-ons gets me, cause I used my overdrive to get through the similar section right before it.

I'm talking expert guitar btw, havent really done much with the drums yet

Are you using the Rock Band strat and the solo buttons? I've gotten to where I can do those two sections about 90% in practice mode using two hands but I still can't pass the actual song because I'm already usually about 50% on the meter and then I have to move both hands and start that section but I have to wait to get the timing right and end up failing out if I don't use overdrive. That song is such a pain in the ass...

There aren't any new DLC songs that I am interested in for a while Though I'll probably end up getting some of them just because I get bored and need new songs.

The thing that makes it difficult (for me at least) is that if you are doing a hammer-on/pull-off, you have to hit the button right when it goes through the target. On GH, which trained me in the ways of interactive music games, you could just hold it down until you get to that point.

During the guitar solo's you can use the solo buttons and you don't have to strum (you can use them at any other time also but you have to strum them).

During that section of GGAHT when it's Y-R-G-R-Y-R-G-etc... I use the solo buttons and have the index finger from my right hand holding down the green and use my middle finger from my right hand to tap the red and then my index finger from my left hand to tap the yellow. You don't even have to worry about the greens because the section is so fast you will get them as you tap the red as long as you have it held down, you just have to get the rhythm with the red's and yellow's and it's not too bad. That's the only way I've been able to get that section.

If I understand what you are saying you can still do that in Rock Band.

i think they need to crank out more DLC, faster. this 3 songs once a week thing sucks. esp when the 3 songs suck.

I hear ya, it'd be nice to have it all now... but they have more DLC than any game and have WAY more planned than any other game.

I want music I like too, but I dont want them to just start pumping out mindless charts. So far they've done a good job, and I'd like them to keep up the quality. Getting your favorite song/band is no good if it's some generic, disconnected chart.

Just read this section on a review of Rock Band on amazon and thought it was funny:

Quote :
"The multiplayer, I'm led to understand, is enjoyable, and I could definitely see that. The multiplayer campaign is wonderful. And should be the single player campaign. And isn't. And this bothers me. The development team didn't get the online cooperative elements finished by release, with the result being that you cannot play the cooperative campaign online. If you don't have friends you can bring over, or can sing well enough to play and sing at the same time, you'll never know how much fun it is. I'm an old person. My friends are married with children. I cannot bring them over to my house to play pretend guitar with me. This is unacceptable. "

I'll probably hop on the wagon when the 2nd gen hardware comes out

^that would be nice. i can play/sing well enough to get through a lot of it, but once you have to play on hard i am very limited as to what songs i can do, and i can't sing anything on expert. it's not often that my friends that can play stuff on expert are actually around to be able to play, so having BWT online would be sweet.

Rumor: Future Rock Band DLC Found in Game File
http://kotaku.com/356288/future-rock-band-dlc-found-in-game-file

This is only a rumor, but definitely interesting if it turns out to be indicative of future DLC. This list is from a link in the article:

Quote :
"Updated list as of 02-13-2008 pulled from [(Arguably) Punk Pack 02]. I am leaving list in alphabetical order with released songs removed from the list. There were two entries labeled <String text> that I assume are placeholders. The list was found in spa.bin (it's actually 2 lists).

This list is NOT for certain what will be released, only that Harmonix POSSIBLY has worked on, is working on, or will be working on. Artists were not listed in the file.

So have they made any type of announcement when they will be improving on the hardware? It can only be so long of every person that owns the game having their 3rd guitar and 4th drum pedal as repairs

word. they're sending me a box to send in my broken guitar. coulda put down $125 for expedited or whatever, but i cant afford that shit even temporarily lol.

its funny that when you call the EA support line it's like "rock band press 1, all other EA games press 2". think they know their shit's fucked up?

uh yeah it's been going on for a long time now.

you could have done it through the support website too, fyi

^^correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe there were some improvements b/w what came out right at first and what is out now (in terms of instruments). i am on my 2nd guitar, 2nd drums, 2nd pedal. so far so good.

i wouldn't let the fact that you may get a somewhat defective piece of hardware keep you from buying the bundle if you can afford it. they replace the broken shit for free, no hassle. i <3 this game.

of course they know, they've probably been getting thousands of RMA's for the instruments.

Little known secret: if you do the express replacement, they eventually take the $125 hold off your card, and BINGO you've got 2 guitars/drums/whatevers (the original faulty one + the replacement they send). Wait a while, start another RMA to replace the guitar that was initially faulty. They send you another fixed guitar, and BAM you've got 2 working guitars.

Not that I'd condone something like this, but it's what I've heard.

^yeah, they've DEFINITELY improved the guitars. You can feel the difference in the strum bar.
The drums are on their 3rd hardware rev (serial numbers EL, QL, and SL maybe?). I've got the QL's and they work great. SL's are the newest, so not much is known about them.
