Watch Rivers' numbers take off now. His receiving cast of VJ and Buster Davis is underwhelming to say the least, which has allowed teams to stack the box and double-cover Gates.

Chambers is the type of guy who can jump over people and snag the ball in traffic. Rivers needs a receiver like that.

LOL, I guess when you watch only 1 Charger game all year and it happens to be their worst performance, your perception of the team gets skewed a little.

PS Eric Parker has great hands. The playoff game was an anomaly. Chris Chambers on the other hand... well, lets just say that he takes after TO sometimes.

Parker actually caught 68.6% of passes thrown to him last year, placing 11th in the AFC.

That being said, I've seen him make ridiculous drops in more games than just last year's playoff debacle.

You're confused, or you're full of shit.

According to NFL statistics, Parker dropped 2 passes during the regular season last year.

For comparison's sake, Chambers dropped 8 and TO dropped 17.

First, those aren't "NFL statistics," because the NFL doesn't keep track of drops.

Second, drops are an inherently subjective stat, because what one person interprets as being over- or underthrown might be considered a drop to another person.

Parker may have been productive for periods, but he definitely had serious issues dropping passes for the last 1/3 or so of the regular season and playoffs. I actually watched most of the Chargers games last year.

In all seriousness, drop statistics, especially percentage dropped is one of the most worthless statistics in football, which is why it isn't officially kept. Different receivers can see a completely different set of passes thrown their way, depending on their offense, the routes they run, the throws their QB makes, coverage they see, their role, etc. We aren't talking about free throws here.

Example: Lets say Steve Smith catches 60% largely made of 30 yard passes or jump balls against a number one corner with safety help, LDT catches 90% of swing and screen passes thrown to him, and Eric Parker catches 70% on hitches and quick slants with the defense focusing on Gates and LDT. Who is the best receiver? Who has the best hands? Do those percentages mean anything at all?

^^Chambers runs deep routes. He stretches the field and also runs over the middle. Of course his catch % is gonna be lower than a possession receiver. He also opens things up for the guys underneath, because they have to put a safety on him.

This will benefit Rivers and LT the most, forcing teams to back off the LOS lest they get burned.
