^totally forgot about him, although after he leaves next year, we're going to be rather thin at TE with just Kushner, Bryan, and Carter.

Well maybe we can get Fontaine to commit. That'd be pretty funny for him to originally verbal to BC and then later end up at State. That'd really make the BC fans mad.

Do you think James will start early in the season if not right away? He and bowens would make a nasty tandem.

Said he loved playing under TOB and that he was ready for the season to start. Also that they were going to be running multiple tight end sets (which we pretty much knew already)

Pretty nice dude and he is fucking massive. I was like

Since there are 81 days left we shall now take the time to remember a Wolfpack great that has his name and number on retirement row (the front of the westside upper deck). Torry "Big Game" Holt was the greatest wide receiver in State history. Holt wore the number 81 and played wide receiver from 1995-1998. In his senior year Holt was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year. That season he set ACC records of 88 receptions (since broken by Kenneth Moore of Wake Forest) for 1,604 yards and an NC State record of 16 touchdown catches. In 1998 he set the school record for number of 100 yard performances in a season at 8, which would later be tied by Koren Robinson in 2000. Holt is tied with Koren Robinson for second for career 100 games with 14 (Jerricho Cotchery holds the record with 15). Holt has had two 200 yard performances, which is the most among State wide receivers. Both performances came in the 1998 season (Baylor 11 receptions for 255 yards and Clemson 11 receptions for 225 yards). Holt holds the State record for most receptions in one game when he pulled down 15 receptions for 179 yards in the 1998 game against Wake Forest. He also holds both the number 1 and 2 spot for most TD receptions in a game with 5 against FSU in 1997 and 4 against Clemson in 1998. Holt holds the State career record for receiving yards with 191 receptions for 3,379 yards. His 31 career TD receptions is number one in State history, with the next closest receiver on the list being Cotchery with 21. Holt's younger brother, Terrence, would play safety for State from 1999-2002.

Congrats to John Dunlap for signing a free agent contract with Miami. Good luck and we all hope you make the team. That'd be a great story, a South Florida boy playing for the hometown team.

Dolphins Sign Rookie Free Agent Wide Receiver
June 9, 2008

The Miami Dolphins today signed wide receiver John Dunlap as an undrafted college free agent. Dunlap attended the team’s minicamp this past weekend on a tryout basis.

The 6-1, 218-pound Dunlap was a four-year letterman at North Carolina State (2004-07) where he played in 42 games with 22 starts in his career. He finished with 85 receptions for 924 yards and seven touchdowns. He started 10 of the 11 games in which he appeared as a senior in 2007 and led the Wolfpack with a career-high 45 catches, totaling 375 yards and three scores.

The 22-year-old Dunlap attended Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, Fla., where he played wide receiver and linebacker, and helped the school to the 2-A state championship as a senior in 2003. He was born on January 3, 1986.

Named the ACC Co-Offensive Back of the Week for his efforts ... Pulled down five catches for 93 yards in the win at East Carolina, he added 103 yards of kick returns for 196 all-purpose yards ... Came on strong as a kick returner during the second half of the season, he ended up ranking sixth in the ACC with a 21.5 yard average, even though he didn't have a return until the seventh game of the season ...

In 2006: Talented young player who was the only true freshman to start a game for the Wolfpack in 2006, he was one of just two who saw action ... Played in all 12 contests, he started the Southern Miss, Boston College and Florida State games - two of the team's three wins ... Rivals preseason countdown
http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=815979

68. NC STATE
COACH: Tom O'Brien (5-7 in one season; 80-52 overall in 10 seasons).
LAST SEASON: 5-7 overall, 3-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (tied for fifth in ACC Atlantic).
FINAL 2007 RIVALS.COM RANKING: 76th.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Junior tailback Jamelle Eugene could be headed for a 1,000-yard season if he plays all year the way he performed after moving into the starting lineup midway through the '07 campaign. After injuries to Toney Baker and Andre Brown forced Eugene into the lineup, he responded with 100-yard games against Florida State, Virginia and North Carolina. Sophomore linebacker Nate Irving also responded well after moving into the starting lineup. Irving had 33 tackles – five for loss – in the final five games of the season.
STAR POWER: No returning ACC player averaged more tackles for loss per game than junior defensive end Willie Young, who had 16. Young will try to pick up where he left off after delivering 14 tackles for loss in the final seven games of the 2007 season. Young recorded three sacks in a victory over Virginia and had eight quarterback pressures against North Carolina. Young also had six sacks and six pass breakups last season.
STRENGTHS: North Carolina State ranked 11th in the ACC in rushing offense, but the Wolfpack should be able to run the ball more effectively this season with Eugene working behind a line that features three returning starter (tackles Meares Green and Julian Williams and guard Curtis Crouch). Starting cornerbacks DeAndre Morgan and Jeremy Gray return from a secondary that helped the Wolfpack rank 25th in the nation in pass-efficiency defense.
WEAKNESSES: Who's the quarterback? Daniel Evans and Harrison Beck combined to throw 22 interceptions and only 14 touchdown passes last season. No wonder redshirt freshman Russell Wilson has a decent chance of winning the job at some point this season. The Wolfpack must shore up a defense that was the worst in the ACC against the run. North Carolina State's penchant for throwing interceptions and its inability to create big plays on defense caused the Wolfpack to rank 117th in turnover margin.
THE BUZZ: O'Brien already proved he could win in the ACC during his Boston College tenure. By winning five of their final six games last season, the Wolfpack showed that O'Brien already had corrected the discipline problems that had developed during predecessor Chuck Amato's ill-fated final season. That season-ending 37-0 humiliation against Maryland that cost NCSU a bowl bid also should give the Wolfpack plenty of motivation as they head into 2008. North Carolina State won't contend for a division title until it gets improved play at quarterback, but a bowl is a legit goal.

get your facts straight. We wanted Josh Adams, but he chose Wake Forest. I mean, seriously, we couldn't offer him a starting job as a RS-FR....Wake could. Also, Wake is/was known for their running game. Josh chose the best situation for himself, and well, it looks like its working out for him so far

"get your facts straight. We wanted Josh Adams, but he chose Wake Forest. I mean, seriously, we couldn't offer him a starting job as a RS-FR....Wake could. Also, Wake is/was known for their running game. Josh chose the best situation for himself, and well, it looks like its working out for him so far
"

I know my facts. I was being sarcastic... most NCSU fans at the time didn't think he was "good enough" to be an ACC running back. Everyone thought he would be a DB... good call Wolfpack fans

he's a good sport too, I played DE and both times I got pancaked he picked me up by my shoulder pads and put me back on my feet... and I was 230 at the time. I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh.

Julian was called Unit or Big Unit in highschool, I have heard state players still call him that.
