I haven't touched GT5 at all since February but I got it out tonight and played. It took forever to DL all the updates I've missed and I bought the downloadable content pack. I had totally forgotten how much fun this game is. Should I bother getting a steering wheel or just keep rocking it out with a controller? If it really increases the awesomeness of the game I'll get one.

2 very bad laps set my 2nd set of tires back too far to take it, gave up 20+ seconds in 2 laps and then was on over worn tires for the last 6 laps. Boo. A little more tweaking and I'll be good to go though. 1:53's were my fastest, 1:54-1:58 was normal running.

The Toyota GT86 is a handful to drive on stock (sport hard) tires. Unless you're on a flat track it oversteers like an early 80s Porsche 911

January's race is the Madrid city course, with a lap count of 40. Race length should be just over 60 minutes. I caution you to do some tire wear testing. The modeling of this was changed quite a bit from that last 2.02 update.

Huh? All the game updates are free.

The DLC packs are not, but if you want to buy additional cars and tracks (and some other random shit) then yeah you pay a few bucks.

I'm just about a week late with this, but whatever...

The "second coming" of race #1, held last Tuesday (the 20th) was a fun event with 7 participants (3 of whom had already done the race back on the 15th). The results are as follows:

1st - dawson864 - Toyota MR2 GT-S '97 (no points)
2nd - kngrsll - Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II '95
3rd - Valrik - Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II '95 (no points)
4th - Cainius - Honda S2000 '99
5th - SonicZoom82 - Acura NSX '91(has to change car)
6th - blasphemour - Acura NSX '91 (no points and has to change car)
7th - chazz1x - Acura NSX '91 (has to change car)

I'm not sure how to integrate points from this race with the race held on the 15th. Obviously points do not count twice for people that participated in both (if you were in Race 1 then points count from that race. The second one gives you no points). The question is what to do with the people that weren't in race "1", that being kngrsll, Cainius, SonicZoom and Chazz1x.

I have an idea of how to integrate them but I'm open for any suggestions...?

raw lap times? its not like the environment changed from race to race. i'm even ok if people who raced twice get the best of their two best lap times. It'd essentially work like a two stage qualifying event.

Thanks for the comments danny. I'm going to do raw race time. However in race "2" I screwed up and didn't change the end of race timer. So after 30 seconds the event closed while 3-4 people were still on their final laps

As to taking the best of 2 times, I'm not going to do that. Seems slightly unfair to those that could only attend once (or those that only chose to attend once). In the future there will only be one race per month, unless there is some big type of attendence issue.

From what I can tell now I've got 17-18 people interested in doing this every month. Which is great because there will always be 1-2 that cannot attend.

As per exXboxFan's suggestion the two race results from Event 1 will be merged together via time. Going forward there will be just one race (no make up event) so I hope we can find a date that works for everyone (or close to it). Below are the results going forward:

The new DLC is pretty sweet. That Lambo is badass, and the speed test feature is pretty slick.

0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile and speed, standing mile time, top speed, and peak G force at launch are all recorded.

So far my best launch in the Aventador (on sport hard tires) yielded a 0-60 time of 3.013 and a 1/4 mile time of 10.8 at 126 or so, hehehe

After you play for a bit sessions the "level" thing is insignificant. And if you want the UCD to refresh quickly just cycle through some license test events. You don't have to do them, just load them.

Well like an idiot I didn't exact a rule at the start of the series calling for a ballast penalty for race winners (to keep the field closer in future races). However since exXboxFan has won the last 2 races handily he voluntarily added the ballast to his car.
