wood got hacked, but we started getting complacent. Gotta keep the intensity, even though you want to play deeper in the shot clock.

we just need to get good shots. this team isnt experienced enough or disciplined enough to run the shot clock down to single digits to melt a game away yet

I dunno, I think they just kinda suck in general. They completely missed an obvious travel on Howell a minute ago.

i havent seen enough of Barnes. i saw him play at the NC Pro Am and he was an excellent player, but Kyrie Irving was just a step above him.

he may be an all american, for sure...but i dont think the AP got it right by selecting him based on preseason hype. A preseason all american should be reserved for those that are proven.

great game for us tonight! I wish we wouldve blown out George Mason, but I think its important for us to face some adversity early in the season. Winning games like this gives our freshmen confidence that they can weather the storm and pull out a win versus a quality opponent, even when the refs arent playing in our favor

Sunday is gonna be a great, HUGE game for us

^I agree 100%. I think Barnes is great, and he could very well be an all-american at the end of the year, but he had never played a single college game and they anointed him as one of the best 5 players in the nation. I also think Kyrie Irving looked better than Barnes in the Pro-AM

this is a pretty good win for our young team. GM will do well in the CAA this year.

this game was critical for our NCAA hopes actually. GM is a solid RPI win and G'Town will probably be our best shot to get a marquee win without Tracy. Wofford would also have been a tough game for our young team

man, I have a feeling we are really going to miss Tracy on Sunday. And this will be a matchup between a current top PG recruit (Ryan Harrow) and a past top PG recruit that we barely missed out on (Chris Wright)

w/o tracy we have no big men that have the hands either to hold a rebound or make a shot.

GTown's big man is a freshman who has never played a college game before, it's not an analogous situation.

one thing i like about this team is they seem a lot more resilient to adversity. the other team makes a run, we respond. things aren't going our way (like fouls tonight), they fight through it and win. kinda nice.

Tracy out for approximately 3 weeks

http://www.wralsportsfan.com/ncsu/story/8657165/

Quote :
"North Carolina State senior forward Tracy Smith returned to Raleigh Friday to be evaluated by team doctor's after coming out of Wednesday's Charleston Classic game against East Carolina with pain in his left knee.

Smith underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Friday where Smith's left joint was hurting but no major damage was found. Smith is expected to be out of action for three weeks.

Smith only registered four points in six minutes in the win over East Carolina on Wednesday night before leaving the game. Smith led the Wolfpack in scoring last season with almost 18 points and seven rebounds per game.

The Wolfpack won the second game of the Charleston Classic 78-65 over George Mason Friday."

charleston is a great venue for a game. i sat on the front row tonight and really noticed some things. painter is very active on d, he also is very thin and gets moved easy. howell is thick and plays like it. he is less active on o and d than painter but is a solid block rebounder. zo is by far the better player of the big 3. harrow scores and you do not even notice he is in double digits. leslie pouts like a lil kid and has terrible body language. he reminds me of when costner was pissed hickson was the go to. that said he is a great talent who needs to learn when NOT to shoot the ball. wood has a nice stroke in person. he is smooth and really squares up when shooting off a screen. his d is also much improved over last season. looking forward to sundays game. GO PACK

Now that the game is set, I bought my tickets for Sunday. Just realized, though, that I'm not going to be back until like 2 in the morning .

Also, can people stop using the word "adversity"? All I can think of is those damn tar hole fans.

My parents are going to the Wisconsin game (had tickets for me, but I have an exam that day), so I hope we put forth some good effort. I think we've got a good chance if we play like we did the second half of yesterday's game.

or the second half of today's game.

if either painter or howell or both can fix their damn HANDS so that they can hold onto rebounds and go strong to the basket we can do a lot of good things.

did anyone else notice the 33-27 score near the end of the 1st half of the ECU game? Maybe it was just me. Atleast ya'll were up this time and won.

I guess im just fond of those numbers. =)

tracey being out 3 weeks could potentially play into our favor. we may lose some games in the short term that we'd have won with tracey, but guys like painter and vandenburg get a chance to develop with important game minutes while he's out.

that may be just what we need down the stretch when we need to be able to rely on solid minutes from them in big games. painter looks like a different player so far this tournament. he can really develop into a stud over the next 3 weeks if things go well. and obviously we have to hope that 3 weeks is all it's going to be for tracey.

Tough matchup against Georgetown. Javi is going to have to bear the brunt of the work guarding Chris Wright as he is quick (not fast particularly but quick) but also bigger and stronger than Harrow is. Brown also has a tough matchup against Austin Freeman.

Game will be won or lost in the middle IMO, so hopefully Painter and Howell come to play...
