The only reason we were even in the game was because syracuse missed some wide open shots and wood got hot. In game coaching and management was absolutely terrible and put the players in tough situations which lost this game.

Sid's job the last four minutes was bad, yes. But to act like he took a dump on the gameplan today is hilarious. Switching to man slowed down Syracuse who looked red hot the first five minutes. Offensive sets finally broke down the zone which gave us the lead. Saying that his gameplan was unimproved over Wisconsin is absolutely wrong.

The only thing I have to critique Lowe about this game was that I don't think that he gave enough crap to the refs during a few bad calls, and I question his change in players on the floor after the first few minutes of the second half.

Regardless, Lowe wasn't out there making really laid back passes in to a great zone defense.

Overall, I'm happy with the way the team played, but as is typical with NC State, it's annoying because we were so close to having so much more.

Harrow basically started our rally in the first half and disappears in the second. CJW really is nothing but a role player and is playing critical minutes later in the game as well. I would really like to see him play Leslie at the 3 some to increase rebounding but I guess Tracy's injury stops that.

We played a good game except for the turnovers. Only thing that annoyed me was the endless passing for the first 20 seconds of the shot clock. We were getting good ball movement (not just passing around the 3 point line like we did with Sendek) but just too damn much of it, eventually someone's got to make a play instead of passing again.

I thought the foul descrepency was interesting considering they played an agressive defense...

I just don't understand what all the complainers were expecting...a W against the #7 team? Hell, I wouldn't expect that of our team even if Tracy Smith was healthy. Sure, we were in the game...and as I said, it stings. But we ran a good offense against Syracuse, CJL is finally finding out exactly where he fits on the team, Scott is still showing himself to be a central part of the offense, Ryan proved that he can spark the offense even against a top team, Painter finally started to show some control with his down low moves, etc..

Lots to be happy about in this game. But wait...we didn't win which means we won't make the tournament, Sid is gonna get fired, and then we'll finally start winning all the time!! Right?!

Very pleased with the team's performance. We played well, for the most part. Vandenberg, while he is a complete liability on offense, actually rebounded decently...at least for his standard. We just have no inside presence without Tracy Smith and can not get to the line. We couldn't vs Wiscy (not that it cost us the game) and we couldn't tonight (may have cost us the game...plus Howell missed 4 FTs). Overall, if we keep playing like we did tonight I will be pleased.

It's not about who's ranked where or any of that. Rankings mean shit right now. Syracuse is not the 7th best team right now. They barely squeaked by an awful Georgia Tech team worse than us. It would be different if we didn't have plenty of chances to win. That ranking and we should have lost went away when it was a tight game.

You have to understand that this is essential to our inside out gameplan. Cuse is a fast team, so we needed to control tempo and hold the ball as long as we can throughout the game. By working the perimeter we can attack the paint with the option to kick out for 3. Without Tracy healthy, it was, and will continue to be, our best chance to win games against track teams like Cuse.

I will agree on this point, if our guards can work on their jump shots, and become relevant shooters beyond driving to the basket and bricking, we can mix it up.

I'm not happy with how Lowe didn't react angrily to the CJL Bullshit traveling call when he was clearly knocked by a Cuse defender. I was fucking red in the face, about to bobby knight the TV when i saw Lowe just shaking his head like a disapproving uncle. I want to see the passion.

I agree that they shouldn't be number 7...but they still are a talented team, with one of the top coaches in the country playing ON THEIR HOME COURT.

Sure, we could have won, and we were within striking distance. But from what we have seen from our guys in the past couple of games, I don't think anyone expected us to be there in the first place.

There are too many fucking defeatists on here that 1) call the game with more than 2 minutes on the clock, and 2) are saying that we won't make the tournament because we have early season losses to Georgetown, Wisconsin, and Syracuse...none of which were at home. Before the season, even factoring in Tracy, I was only expecting to win one, but hoped for a second. Without Tracy, we did pretty damn well, save the Wisconsin game.

We're going to handle Arizona at home, at probably won't face serious opposition until mid January. Relax.

i actually sort of saw that but like I said, a long term coach wouldve gotten the officials to blow the play dead and at least look at it. either that or get T'd up.

also not sure if a defensive player knocking the ball back towards the basket can allow for interference. not saying that you CAN goal tend there, but I honestly dont know the rule in that situation

^it was a freaky play but they called it correctly. I was waaaay more pissed about leslie being pulled down from behind by a cuse player and them calling him for a travel even though he passed it on the way down.
