Way too close to tell, which is why it should have been ruled a TD on the field and then tossed up to the replay officials. Where it would have been overturned anyway because NC State shit. 9/20/2013 11:30:25 AM |

At 0:56 of that deadspin video has a great slow motion replay with view of both refs. One with clear line of sight and another that has two players between him and the ball.

IF, and its a big IF, we didn't have shitty ACC refs, we could win games like this.

I've said the same thing to all the Clemson fans I talked to today, but there are tons of other factors that go into what happened...
Momentum is probably the biggest factor. After they broke through at the end of the first half, we had shut them down in their first two drives. So instead of going up one point, giving our offense some confidence (which we definitely needed), pumping up our defense even more, sending Carter Finley into a frenzy, and starting to really make Clemson sweat.....the exact opposite happens. Our defense is given a short field against a rejuvenated Clemson offense, our offense is deflated, and the crowd has the life sucked out of them.
At first I was 100% sure that it didn't matter if Underwood had scored that touchdown...we were going to lose no matter what. But our defense was rolling, Tahj Boyd sucks at Carter Finley, and Dabo is a shitty coach. I definitely think we would have had a great shot at pulling that one out if the call had gone the other way.
Quote : | "2nd scoring drive: 23 plays, 84 yards. " |
I wasn't the biggest TOB hater...but he definitely would have punted/kicked a field goal on one of those dozen or so 4th downs.

Why in the world would something like that not be worthy of a challenge? I understand the dead ball thing, but common sense should prevail. Fucking officials/refs/umpires fucking up sports pisses me off more than teams/players cheating.

This wasn't like Tennessee going up a touchdown on Oregon 3 minutes into the first quarter. We would have been beating and playing the #3 team in the country straight up for 2.5 quarters.
I wouldn't have put money on us to close it out...but I wouldn't put money on Clemson either.9/20/2013 1:49:27 PM |

lol, out of three options
1. clemson wins 2. state wins 3. end in a tie and neither team wins
I would take #1 most of the time, and I think most people would too. Not saying I wouldnt want #2 to happen, but its not what I would think would happen if you played the game an infinite amount of times and summed all the results. But thats the good thing about sports, you actually play the games out (see Giants over the Patriots).

wtf are you talking about? go look in the prediction thread and see how many people THOUGHT we were going to win that game going into it.
however, if you were at the game you would have realized how important and how much of a difference that one play would have made at that point in the game.9/20/2013 2:05:05 PM |

That should probably be our new slogan. It really doesn't matter what angle we look at it... There were two guys on the field dressed in black and white stripes that were in position to make the call. One of them was 15 yards in front of the runner and the other was 15 yards behind the runner. One had a direct view of the runners feet and was looking at them while the other one was having to try to look around two players. The one with the direct view called it a touchdown while the one who's view was a blocked call it out of bounds. That is my issue with it.
Freeze the deadspin video at :59 and tell me which ref (if any) should have called him OOB
