anybody else think Mozgov is more of the style of big man that Lebron wants to play with than either Love or Bosh? Seems like his Big-3 experiments have taken high output All Star bigs who are used to playing 40 minutes a game and averaging 20 and 10, and when they get on Lebron's team, they are relegated to stretch 4s and just not nearly as efficient or effective. A true center like Mozgov gives the rebounding and low post presence that finesse 7 footers like Bosh and Love just don't.

sad thing is that not a single active/healthy Cavs player on the current roster (LBJ aiside obv) could make the GSW rotation. regardless of how this series goes, they're collectively playing out of their minds.

Not really. Obviously Dellavedova has had a couple good games in the playoffs, but he played like shit tonight. Tristan Thompson should be averaging a double double against small ball teams. Mozgov is the same way. Shumpert is okay and Smith has been playing like shit with the exception of one good half (tonight).

It's what makes this Herculean effort by Lebron even more impressive.

Why did Timofey play so much less after having 28 points in game 4? Couldn't keep up with the smaller line-up?

^^^Wilt had back to back triple doubles averaging over 35 boards in those 2 games, and they actually won the Finals. Lebron is a fucking beast but you can't just throw around "best ever" stuff willy nilly like old mambagrl does

You got me there. Unfortunately, I wasn't watching in the 60s. I am, however, skeptical of the level of competition back then.

It was a hell of lot easier to get that many rebounds back when people couldn't fucking shoot.

Lebron is carrying the most incredible workload of anyone who has ever played in the finals. This is harder than his first go around in Cleveland. He got a little help from Tristan Thompson tonight and JR in the first half, but other guys need to step up and play better.

I don't think they can win now, but the fact that they even had a chance with this team is a testament to how incredible Lebron truly is. The gap between him and every other player in the league is enormous.

I obviously didn't watch the NBA before I was born, but I do try and keep up with the history of the game. Wilt had the most ridiculous stats of anybody ever. Just look it up. Russell was also pretty ridiculous but for example, they criticized Wilt for not passing, so the next season he led the NBA in assists. That's not some myth, it's a fucking fact.

Lebron is beast, please don't confuse my microanalysis criticism with not acknowledging his greatness. I think he's at least close to top-10 all time if not already top-10, and he still has years to go. He'll pass Jordan in points, he'll probably win at least a 3rd title if not more before it's all said and done. It just seems like some of the other all time greats were able to dominate the game AND turn that into a W. And hell, he could easily lead the Cavs to the next 2 and prove the haters wrong. But there have been some great players in the league.

Quote :

I mean, Iverson scored 48 and beat Shaq and Kobe in their prime (in one game) back in 01. And he didn't have Kyrie and Love for the first 90 games. I think Lebron's athleticism and size combo, which IS as good as anyone ever, makes people forget what other players have done

so making it all the way to the finals with a shitty team means nothing because hes gonna lose in 6 to one of the 10 or 15 best teams ever?

most those other players had other great players next to them the whole time.

Its not debtable that lebron is top 3 all time. He passed a bunch of guys like kobe and shaq on this run this year.

he's been great in the finals. he had some help getting there though. pretty sure kevin love played into the 2nd round of the playoffs. and kyrie played like a week and a half ago, IN the finals.

sorry your boy delly got exposed, no need to twist facts

I'd say LeBron is the best Small Forward of all time, just because he is a better defender than bird. Not top 3 though.

for the record, i can't stand cleveland as a city, record label and as a mother fuckin crew. I can't stand lebron (dont have a good reason though) either.

i loved deli in college and before the bulls series said he was the only cavs player i liked. then he got dirty as fuck or at least thats the first time i found him out. hes not my boy

I was always a kobe fan and said lebron would never do what hes done. I'm just admitting his greatness now because its so blaringly obvious and undeniable. replace him with jordan at his best and this series is over by now. gs is much closer to being the best team ever than the gap between lebrons supporting class and the supporting class of anyone else being mentioned as the greatest ever.

pippen vs deli?
pippen vs hughes?
kareem and worthy vs mozgov and shumpert?
thompson vs rodman?
Jerry west vs deli?
Jr smith vs elgin baylor?

These comparisons are just laughable. bill russell played with two of the OTHER top 50 players of all time wilt did the same TWICE. You could trade Lebron to GS for Iggy and he still wouldn't have the best supporting cast out of these guys.

All those guys also played AGAINST top 50 players. Lebron can't impose his will on a 31 year old Iggy? Come on man.

they're double and tripling lebron almost everytime he gets near the post. When they don't, he has been pretty damn effective. Its not just Iggy. Thompson was on him a shit ton tonight and Thompson is pretty widely regarded as one of if not the best perimeter defender in the game right now. I'm gonna need stats to back up this not being the greatest finals performance ever given the situation. All of those greats you're talking about winning...show me their supporting cast, show me who they played against and show me the stats they put up. Combining all of those things, I don't think there is a player that has done what Lebron is doing right now.

It's not like Malone or Stockton guarded Jordan. The Warriors have Curry and two other max contract/all star level players. Not to mention players like Iggy, who was the best player on a playoff team not too long ago.

He's averaging a triple double on a former All-Star, 1st team NBA defense, widely considered one of the best perimeter defenders in the league...yet he's not "imposing his will". Get outta here.

You're witnessing probably the best Finals performance ever...enjoy it.

Statistically has to be the best finals performance of all time by one player. Forget the fact that he's on one of the worst teams to make the finals ever, just his stats alone are crazy. Even looking at MJ's finals stats, never had a single series as impressive statistically as the one Lebron is having.

GS in 6, but Lebron has to win Finals MVP regardless of the next game.

Not saying he's the GOAT or top 3 or top 5, but he's clearly the best player currently in the league by a large margin and having a historically great series. He left Cleveland the first time because he realized one person can't carry a team to a title.

Lebron is definitely in the top 10 of greatest players of all time and, in my opinion, the greatest player in history at his position. Post 2000, where the talent gap has become much smaller between the best players and the worst players, he is absolutely dominating. Averaging a triple-double with a garbage team, where is consistently facing double and triple teams just shows how great he is.

The comparisons to MJ are always funny to me because it was a different era, different teams, and different positions, but if I were building a team for sustained success I would take Lebron over MJ. Reasons? Dont forget that MJ played for the greatest coach in NBA history who installed an offensive system specifically to help MJ succeed (triangle offense), while Lebron has had shitty coaching for his entire career. Jordan had a long-term teammate in Scottie Pippen (nothing like playing with someone who knows every aspect of your game down to the details) and a consistently stable team (again, a different era), while Lebron has had immediate success wherever he went - the cast around him never mattered.

I don't think anyone has ever had to do what he is doing. Most teams that make it to the finals aren't as bad as his supporting cast. The shittiness of the East + Injuries, LeBron's usage rate is absurd.

Elgin Baylor had 61 points and 22 boards in a Finals game, against a team with Bob Cousy, KC Jones and Bill Russell. Will be interesting to look at Lebron's numbers this series once the series is over and it's easier to compare. Another reason why comparing Jordan and Lebron is a little silly, is because we don't know Lebron's full body of work yet.

[Edited on June 15, 2015 at 11:07 AM. Reason : i think Russell averaged 30 rebounds that series]

Mozgov plays similar to Shaq. You have to wonder why he only got 9 minutes last night. Blatt thought they could out-small-ball the Ws? Lebron almost led them to do so until midway through the 4th. I don't think he coached a great game considering the 2nd best scorer for Cleveland this series only got 9 minutes. I know the early 1st quarter double teams on Mozgov caused a couple turnovers, but does that mean you just give up on him for the rest of the game?
