still listed as $6.99 in the Android Market but might be worth checking back on this weekend

I've heard the controls are kinda tricky and the running game is difficult because of that, but a free $6.99 app is a free $6.99 app

Probably on par with any of the other 3rd party launchers. The launcher settings are fairly straight forward and easy to navigate. Homescreen transitions are smooth and there are a couple different options that you can choose from (cube, card, etc). The app drawer is horizontal scrolling like the Galaxy S and can be sorted by name, date downloaded or frequently used. Nothing overly impressive but it's just something else to compete with ADW and launcher pro.

Question:
Anyone know if any of the ATT android phones have micro-sim which I could swap between my iphone4 and android device? Need to know if a) it has a micro-sim and b) does ATT do anything that would keep it from being able to be used on the iphone4.

OK new phone time for me. Money isnt too much an object on this one. I havent kept up with whats hot in android world lately, but Im sticking with it.

With sprint, whats a good phone to get, or is there any coming out soon to watch for? Id prefer nothing samsung, Ive had 2 of theirs, and both tend to crap out on me daily.

16GB HTC Flyer for $99 at Best Buy

"Samsung Galaxy Nexus full specs revealed; Verizon Wireless exclusive
By: Jonathan S. Geller | Oct 6th, 2011 at 09:30AM 115 Comments Filed Under: Exclusives, Mobile

Well, now that Apple has announced the iPhone 4S, there’s only one other flagship on the horizon that people are eagerly anticipating and that’s the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Codenamed “Nexus Prime,” the Galaxy Nexus is a phone we have scooped on numerous occasions, and now we can paint a complete picture of the device thanks to new information from a trusted source. Here’s what Samsung and Google will unveil next Tuesday:

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
9mm thin
4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
1GB of RAM
32GB of built-in storage
5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
1080p HD video capture support
LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
1,750 mAh battery

We have confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be a pure Google Experience device without any third-party UI or modifications, so no TouchWiz on this one, guys. Also, one notable feature of Ice Cream Sandwich? The ability to monitor each app’s data usage on the device. Lastly, we’re still hearing that the Galaxy Nexus will be a Verizon Wireless exclusive here in the U.S., so it’s time to check out those contract end-dates if you’re on another carrier and you plan to scoop up the latest pure Google smartphone."

Saw a post on Engadget about that.

Besides the screen, those specs aren't the world beaters we've been led to expect based on hype.

Also, I thought the rumor mill already "confirmed" than ICS is Android 2.4, not 4.0?

2.4 doesn't make sense. I would expect 4.0...

Droid life seems to think it could be an omap 4430, not 4460. The 4460 had some issues, hopefully they worked it out. Supposed to be steps ahead of the 4430.

I'm salivating at this phone. I'll buy it the week its available

ICS taking advantage of dual-channel RAM will make this phone pretty blazing, especially if they keep the clock speeds of the 4460 at 1.5ghz. I'm just curious how the battery will hold up

"Color us a disappointed shade of blue, but it appears that Samsung and Google have decided not to launch the Galaxy Nexus (or Nexus Prime, or whatever it's called) and Ice Cream Sandwich at their October 11th Unpacked event. The two companies sent out a joint announcement reading:

Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.

The press event on the 11th was expected to be not only the debut for the successor to the Nexus S, but our first good look at the next version of Android. For whatever reason the companies have decided to delay that launch. But, if Eric Schmidt is true to his word, we shouldn't have to wait too much longer... he did promise us that it would launch by November. We'll let you know as soon as we get a new date to expect "something big.""

It's ridiculous, really.

Some seem to think it has to do with the timing of Jobs' death. I doubt it. They had a chance to show how off Android 4.0 vs iOS and blew it.

Respect for steve jobs makes no sense. Apple isn't delaying their iPhone from launching the 14th. Just don't be a dick and make underhanded jabs at jobs or even apple to stay safe... show your product and compare them.

UNLESS. Jobs is having a funeral or something on the 11th, and big wigs are going to be in attendance.

probably never. They're using 1900MHz initially for LTE so building penetration will be shit. Looks like they'll be switching to 800 once they get iDen phased out but they still have a ways to go for that.

Quote :
"AT&T on Monday announced AT&T Toggle, a service that allows users to create separate personal and work identities on their smartphone or tablet.

AT&T Toggle separates and protects business data, creating a distinct work mode apart from the typical personal mode on mobile devices. In work mode, users can access corporate email, applications, and calendars, among other features, just as they would on a company-provided device.

When not working, you can 'switch' the toggle back to personal mode to send text messages, watch TV shows and movies, and play games on your mobile device. Basically, you can use it for everything you normally would outside of work.

"People want to use their own smartphones and tablets for work, but that practice can create major headaches for businesses' IT departments," Chris Hill, vice president of advanced mobility solutions for AT&T's business solutions group, said in a statement.

AT&T Toggle offers a web portal that allows IT administrators to manage which employees have access to which company resources. Additionally, they can add, update, and delete business applications on employees' personal devices, and wipe all corporate information stored in work mode if an employee leaves the company or loses their device.

In addition to Toggle, AT&T plans to introduce a series of services and features designed to help turn personal handsets into business tools starting in 2012.

AT&T Toggle can be used on devices running Android 2.2 and higher, and with any service provider. It is expected to be available before the end of the year. Additionally, AT&T plans to expand Toggle's accessibility to other mobile operating systems starting next year. Check back with PCMag for more information as soon as it becomes available."

Would you guys believe me if I said that a year ago I seriously considered learning to write an android app that would serve this exact function, but let it go because I didn't think there would be a large enough market. =\

Some contradicting reports:

Quote :
"[Update]: Looks like our source worded it wrong. November 3rd is actually pegged as the Prime’s release date, meaning we should be seeing an announcement much sooner than that. Huzzah!"

Quote :
"“As far as the Nexus goes, you can let people know that they don’t have to worry about gaming speed/graphics. It’ll be plenty. Also, an announcement on the unveiling is imminent. So hang tight.”"

Which is a lot different than:
http://www.bgr.com/2011/10/11/samsung-google-accused-of-lying-about-galaxy-nexus-delay-patents-said-to-be-real-reason/
Quote :
"“Nexus Prime and Android 4.0 are under question,” Murtazin posted on his Twitter account Tuesday morning. “Google removing some features which are subject of patent war. No timeline for this job.” The plugged-in Russian blogger has a solid track record with inside information. This accusation is serious, however, and we should note that it is not confirmed"

Other Prime News:

The whole patent thing is just an unconfirmed rumor (at least for now) that has only come from one person. Most of the supposed "in the know" people are denying it.
