Haha, I've got an insulin pump myself. I've got to fuck around with beer a bit before I drink much. Like, I've got to figure out how long it takes to get into my system, how much my blood sugar goes up, how to best spread out the deliveries for the insulin...

I'll probably test this all this friday, which is when I rescheduled the party I was planning on having with my family. Probably some more tweaking on the weekend...

Might try to get some friends to go hang out that next week though, but I have a feeling they'll be all "omg I have school". So whatever...

That's not really saying much, is it? But, that's not really my point (though I will say the editorial staff's ability to not take an opinion on anything of substance in the op-eds continues to impress me).

Overall, think your statement really underscores a lack of understanding that you have about the complimentary nature of a newspaper and its website. You think the editors of _____ (fill in the name any reputable newspaper here) are only concerned with putting the printed pages material on their website? Of course not--the audience is different and, in most cases, more pervasive. Newspaper websites shouldn't be replicas of the newspapers themselves; they should be (ideally) written differently and include more multimedia content.

I see that Tyler's started including his "The best of this week's Student Media Photography," but really, that's just a tip of the iceberg (not to mention that the layout of the website isn't really conducive to its inclusion). How about photo galleries from games, instead of the one/two that you include in the actual game report? Or, perhaps an increased emphasis on photojournalism...where pictures tell the story...rather than just relegating your photographers to point-and-click status. I've always thought audio from press conferences would be a nice addition as well. At the very least, I think including exclusive online content that's targeted at a broader audience (i.e., alumni who might visit the paper online) would be a simple addition (though I'd recommend some instruction on the difference between writing for a print vs. online publication).

I realize that the affiliation with College Publisher likely hamstrings your ability to do too much in the way of altering your CMS, but there must be something better than what's currently there. I mean, change the red to green and you've got the Niner Online from UNCC...not cool (though, to their credit, the Niner Online has a blog and space for a non-existent podcast).

But the thing that frustrates me most about TOL is the news section--if there are asides to stories, link them...in much the same way the N&O does with related content. Right now they're all treated as separate stories (see last week's stories about tasers and the iPhone). Also, if a story is less than 6" in length, no byline is required (see Backtracks).
