I am really loving my decision to buy a glock. the more I handle it and shoot it, the more impressed I am with it. I was never a huge fan and only went with the g32 because it seemed like the best option for a .357sig less than 800 bucks

I am officially a convert. Only thing I like better (in my relatively limited experience) are big full-frame metal .45s

i currently pocket carry an LCP whenever the law allows for it. i want a carry gun that'll pack some more punch that i can carry IWB whenever clothing and such allows. also hoping for something that's a little more fun to play with at the range than the LCP. i used to carry a Kahr CW9 in a supertuck until the kahr was stolen. i think i want to do something different this time, probably .40 S&W. i thought about .357 sig since i reload and can feed it cheaply. i guess that's still an option.

i've checked out the M&P 40c, Glock 27, and the XD subcompact. i really don't like the XD, but the others it's kind of a toss up. any other models y'all would suggest i check out to see if i want to put them on my list to try out?

As I understand it, Virginia doesn't require a permit for handgun purchases and that North Carolina doesn't really care about handguns purchased out of state. Does that mean I can buy a pistol (from a dealer) without special permit if I'm in Virginia? I know that interstate transactions have to go through an FFL.

Update: I do see where non-residents must wait either 10 days or for the completion of a state police report; whichever comes first.

Update 2: Fuck. It looks like handgun purchases in VA are for VA residents only.

^^ I'm a big fan of the sig p250. Just make sure its the newer Gen II models. The gen 1s had issues but the newer ones are very nice. So if you look up any reviews on it, make sure it's a recent one. I think Nutnfancy just did one last week or something.
And you can't beat the price. I know you can find them online for about $360-$380

The sig p250 is horrible IMO. I (my wife's) have one, and while the ergonomics are great the trigger pull is terrible. It is nearly 3/4" long, and 8lbs the entire time. Additionally, reset is all the way forward again.

I love the trigger pull. I love a smooth easy trigger. If yours is 8lbs you might get that checked. Every one I've shot has been right at 6lbs.

But I know some people don't like DAO so YMMV. The smooth DAO trigger of the Kahr line is also a favorite of mine

XDs are ugly to me, but I will say I shot my friend's 40 cal., not a bad gun. I can't speak for the sigs too much. I just got mine not to long ago. Currently waiting on new 45 brass to get my load right for what I want to do with the gun.

^ I've tried the sig slim grips and was less than impressed. sig sells the factory wood grips direct on their website if you want to go that route. I put those on instead of the stock grips, its not a cut down on width but I felt like with the stipling you have a better grip.

^ Thanks, with these old style grips, my hand slips. I just thought that the new might have more grip. My hand loves a 1911. So, I guess that is the grip I am trying to reach with a 220 .

^^^^, 6lbs and long is not an easy trigger. If I wanted that, I would carry a shrouded hammer revolver.

Neuse, I picked up a Walther PPQ in 9mm and I've been really pleased with it. I haven't carried at all yet (still gotta get my permit), but I picked up an IWB holster and I can conceal it fairly well as a "larger carry gun" in around the house practice. I consider it basically equivalent to a Glock, but the ergonomics fit me better and I like the trigger WAY better. I looked at pretty much the same alternatives in a polymer pistol: Glock, Springfield XD, Ruger, etc, and the Walther was the one that really stood out for me.

My brother just called me and told me he bought a gen4 G19.
Last time we talked, he was getting a full size M&P, but apparently they are out of stock everywhere.
Makes me happy that he finally convinced his wife that guns =/= devil, and that he finally decided to get one.

dammit, i ordered something off weaponeer.net and am starting to get the idea they are somewhat shady.

no returned calls, emails, nothing. ive even tried getting in touch with them via their youtube channel (which until now i thought was pretty nice).

now, they havent charged anything to my credit card, which ive been watching to see when stuff shipped (since i know i wont get a confirmation email), but jesus christ.

what do i do now? probably should have researched them more before i placed the order; ak forums are not particularly gentle on these guys now that ive gone looking for dirt.

i know the guy is a one-man operation, but in 2012 you have to have some inkling of customer service; its not like im mail ordering a case of dapper dan from bristol.

can i preemptively tell my credit card company not to authorize any charges from that retailer? the idea being if this tard ever does get around to processing my order he will simply get a rejected card? something tells me no...

anyway, thanks guys (rant).

Went to the C&E gun show in charlotte this weekend.
I was able to pick up a side mount optic rail for my AK, and put on an Aimpoint Micro knock-off that I already had.
Also bought a dummy gun glock, a belly band to try out with my PF9, a few mags for my AK and AR, and a single .50bmg dummy round (struck primer and no powder).

Can anyone recommend a good optics rail for the AK/Saiga that doesn't cost a ridiculous amount? The metal on the one I have (came with the rifle when I bought it from a friend) starts to deform when tightening with an allen wrench.

^^ i don't understand....

I'm guessing utg makes a 92 but i should stay away from it.

But RIA is ok ?

Is that too cheap.. .

I really want a double stack 1911 and i don't know if i should just pony up for the base STI 2011
or if the RIA/ PARA options are worth a look, it seems para has had some issues with mags working right. Even the para replacement mags don't fit some well.

I bought a UTG side attaching rail for my ak optic. It is cheap, but seems to work. It used a cam lock to stay on.

I would pick a RIA -1911 over the 92, but that may just be my preference.

yeah i have a UTG.

its pretty solidly built, although i would recommend changing out that rubber o-ring to something a little more heavy duty (equivalent size at home depot).

at least thats what i did. it does a good job with my cheapass barska scope. its a 223 saiga with a 20 inch barrel and it patterns about the size of your hand while standing at 100 yards.

thats pretty good for me.

yeah i'm just not used to semis i was like... a hand size pattern at 100yrds...

either you're a good shot with small hands or a horrible shot with big hands lol.. but then an ak is a slooooowww .30 round with lots of wind drift and drop. (like my 1897 30/30)

@ 100yrds with my 30 cals (other then the 30/30) i can usually drop a dozen eggs without missing... and my 10/22 (varmint gun) is usually the same. (i need longer ranges!! i'm going to have to join one) and you probably make your pattern a lot faster then i do with 2 bolt guns 2 lever guns and the only semi i own is a 22 lol (well and the *other* one)

im a horrible shot.

i dont think a 20 inch barrel was a good idea on an AK.

its a 223 so the issue isnt the cartridge (it is milsurp though).

its just me being a noob and an AK being an AK.

the cheapness of the package means it serves its purpose well-

a Beretta 92 is a good gun, fun to shoot. I love the standard 45/1911 feels good to me. The 1911 has a natural point of aim to me. They're two different guns, with two different qualities. See if you can try both of them out, but if not which one feels good in your hands.

EAA quality is pretty much on par with CZ, maybe a tiny bit less in some guns but not enough to matter...though I have seen pics of a cracked 10mm Witness slide. If I wanted a 10mm the one cracked slide wouldn't deter me from getting a Witness. Just make sure you use the heaviest recoil spring that's still reliable.

good to know, from what i hear the slides are pretty much interchangeable between most 1911s depending on barrel type and guide rod.

I thought you were asking about EAA Witnesses, not 1911s.
I don't know much about EAA 1911s, but if they're true to 1911 design then yeah, slides are interchangeable. You have to be careful though, 1911s are finicky. If you swap a 1911 upper then you have to make sure the barrel link is the correct length and you may have to refit the lower barrel lugs.

I just bought a new Sig P229 9mm for CCW, and a new Remington 870 tactical with extended mag for home defense at the house. I keep my 9mm loaded with federal hollow points, and the Remington loaded with 00 buck.
