every time I see people go on "breaks" and get back together it never ends well... I'm sure there are exceptions, but most of what I've witnessed is a break = excuse to get out

don't they typically go on a break cause they think something better is out there and want to test the waters? that way if it fails then they'll say the break is over and go back to their relationship, if it pans out then they'll end it completely.

I think that is part of the reason. Like you are just feeling smothered and you need a break from them. During this break you can do whatever you want, but you also must realize that if you get back with this person you're going to have to deal with the shit that you did do on the break from them bringing it up all the time.

I wish I could give you advice on the situation, or help you. But I can't. All I can say is that the thread put things in perspective for me. That you have to cherish each moment you have with someone you love, and maximize the time you're with them. Because they could be gone in a heart beat, and there's nothing anyone can really do about it. I know my confession got off topic. Oh well. It's my confession."

I, too, went home with a new attitude towards life. I am still in shock over what happened but it's definitely driven me to be ever more grateful than before. To outwardly show my bf how much he means to me. When I got home fr work I asked for a hug. Just told him I needed a big long one because I never wanted to forget that moment. I hope to god we don't ever have to go through that but I know now to cherish him even more. And not just him. Everyone that matters to me.

I keep thinking of all the tww deaths and hers has had the biggest most ositive impact at all. I hope that somewhat soothes the pain.
