HELP TWW LADIES...if anyone is on right now...i'm designing my own grad announcements and i'm ordering the paper right now...size (for flat cards - not doing folded - too much drama)
5 x 7 card
or
tea length (aka no 10 aka 4 x 9ish inches) card
which one do you think is classier? they're like this color:
which is like a really dark red/maroon (like elon style color) with a hint of metallic and then i'm going to take them somewhere and get shit printed on them (in like a light metallic ink - hopefully like a goldish metallic) 4/27/2010 12:33:58 AM |

I feel like tea length would be super chic and make it a bit more special than something like a 5x7 like any other size card/envelope.
Also, you could fill out a tea length with your announcement a little better than on a wider 5x7 and it will be pleasing to the eye
Even taking a tea length and putting it in landscape vs portrait is really dainty:

go with tea length, it will stand out, less people will lose it, and it is classy. 4/27/2010 12:37:50 AM |

awesome thanks!! that is what i was leaning towards because i think they're more stylish.
OK ORDERED
^^ OMG I LOVE that. i think the monogram type deal is super cute. i might steal that. and i was thinking tea length cause i might add a ribbon or something cute.

envelope the same color or do like a gold envelope?
i think same color yea? i'd do gold if i knew what color the ink was going to be so it'd match the ink but i'm not sure yetttt. 4/27/2010 1:11:51 AM |

got this bag at cole haan over the weekend
its like the most amazing carry on bag i've ever owned. it hold a ton of shit and is well balanced. i love it
just realized the pic makes it impossible to tell how big it is
18"L x 11 1/2" H x 7"D
its way bigger than i'd carry around on a daily basis but makes a great bag for a carry on, or a super busy day that will leave room for a snack, change of clothes & another pair of shoes

Is it just me, or is this dress fucking hideous to anyone else??
I feel like the only way to pull that dress off is if you lived in the early 90's and dated Zach Morris 4/28/2010 8:37:56 AM |

Yes it reminds me of the early 90's, with a big poofy perm and black pumps and big plastic jewlery. 4/28/2010 10:58:45 AM |

I am OBSESSED with these tattoo stockings

Except that seems like the kind of thing that I think is really cool and love it to death but then I would just get them and never wear them because I don't know where they would be appropriate/don't feel like I could pull them off. 4/28/2010 12:56:24 PM |

i'm getting a real tattoo! probably not until the fall when i have money though (well extra money. and hopefully a real job)
i decided to do it on the inside of my upper arm
and everyone who doesn't like it can suck my big fat dick 4/28/2010 7:17:39 PM |
thegoodoctor All American 1670 Posts user info edit post |
I think about getting a tattoo like every other day, but I feel like I don't want it enough to make that kind of commitment.
^ I think under the arm is a good place for it. What is it going to be? 4/28/2010 7:55:05 PM |
khcadwal All American 35165 Posts user info edit post |
its not that cool its only cool to me which i guess should be the point of a tattoo.
but i want to get my mom's signature from her will as a tat. i dunno if i'm going to do anything else with it or just have the signature. but i have time to think about it since i don't really have money to spend on that right now haha.
but i know some girls that have them on their inner arm and they are like pretty unnoticeable. 4/28/2010 7:57:00 PM |
thegoodoctor All American 1670 Posts user info edit post |
As long as you like it, no one else's opinion really matters.
And I like the idea of unnoticeable or hidden tattoos. To me its kind of like wearing sexy underwear - no one but you knows about it, and it makes you feel awesome haha.
I know some girls who have tattoos on their sides, sort of where your lower bra strap wraps around - and also covered if your arms are hanging down at your side. If I got a tattoo it would probably be there. 4/28/2010 8:03:00 PM |

I've never thought about getting one there. That's an interesting spot. I prefer spots that are easy to cover up in any kind of clothing. Like mine I can cover up with a bathing suit if I want to.
^ I was just about to say if I get another it'll be there. 4/28/2010 8:03:46 PM |
khcadwal All American 35165 Posts user info edit post |
^^ that is kind of a cool spot too. but that like goes over the ribs a little right? i feel like that would be super ouchy haha. but i dunno. i kinda like that idea too.
i def wanna do something with my mom's name and i think the signature idea is cool. but everyone has said just to talk to the people at the shop about it and they can help me like get my idea down or whatever. it'd be nice to do one to incorporate both my mom AND my grandmother (her mom) since both of their names were mary but i dunno...that seems hard/complicated and obviously my mom was more meaningful so i think i'ma just leave it at that.
^ where is your current one? what is it of?

How big do you want it? When I got mine done (words in script) the guy wouldn't let me get it as small as I wanted it because he said it wouldn't age well. So before you completely make up your mind I'd talk to someone to see if you can get exactly what you're thinking of.
^ Well I guess my one is really two. I got a swirly dragon design and then a few years later had my family motto "esse quam videri" put wrapping underneath it in a half circle. It's on the back of my hip, like right under the line of the top of my underwear.

^ that is a really good point which is what a friend also told me cause initially i thought about wrist but that isn't as inconspicuous AND it would have to be uber tiny. i guess depending on the size i could ultimately decide on the location. i want to do whatever will age/look best (which is where i want the like artists help). if it is going to be (needs to be) bigger than i imagine then i think i would do it on that side area instead.

kadwackle, I absolutely adore that tattoo idea. Reminds me of what my friend did... Her dad died of prostate cancer so she got "strength" "courage" and I think "pride" in Arabic on her ribs then his name written in Arabic
And honestly, I think your spot will be fine... shit, mine is on my wrist and guess how many people have noticed without me pointing it out? One. (So far at least...) 4/28/2010 8:20:23 PM |
khcadwal All American 35165 Posts user info edit post |
i know i saw your pic in another thread of yours! i really like it. where did you go?
i wanted wrist but i really don't think the signature will fit there cause her name is pretty long. and i want it to look good like 20 years from now.
and that is cool about your friend. i still can't decide if i want anything else with mine but it something i'm open to! also depends on the location. but now that people brought up that side bra strap spot i kinda like that idea too. so we'll see

just be aware the side bra spot will hurt like a bitch due to the ribs... but if it's for your mom I think it would be worth it
the problem I had with my wrist one is that size is a big issue. I got my letters as thin as possible to make it smaller because otherwise it'll all bleed together...
I went to Blue Flame btw 4/28/2010 8:25:59 PM |

but i do like the side bra spot but yea...i think it will kill. thanks
i dunno where i'll go. probably phoenix cause a million people have recommended it to me. i'm still kinda scurred. did yours hurt?
^ well gosh now you two both say blue flame! i just don't know! but i have time to think luckily. no extra $$$ to spend right now on a tattoo haha.

when they hit the rib on the thin layer of skin that overlaps it it tingles like mad. like hurt-y tingle. it's insane.
but the adrenaline rush in incomparable

Joie begonias is my boo 22491 Posts user info edit post |
you can handle it.
the thing about it is...when they start, you don't have a choice but to let them go. like about 1/2 way through i would have stopped if tattoos weren't permanent.
also i had a few people tell me not to get it there even though i wanted to b/c it would hurt so part of me did it out of principle (ahaha)
and also, i got my hip tattoo after that one and the rib piece made that one a breeze

is it like a cry hurt? i mean am i gonna cry? i hope not then i'll just feel like an idiot. did you listen to an ipod or anything while they were doing it?
is it loud? sometimes noises freak me out more than anything. like when i did an internship and watched (in an operating room) an ortho surgery the bone saw noise made me want to vomit. and same with the dentist even when i can't feel the drill i just hate that noise it makes me queasy. so i like ipods in those situations haha. 4/28/2010 8:36:57 PM |
Joie begonias is my boo 22491 Posts user info edit post |
ummm.... i teared up a few times but never actually cried. i mean i think that the fact that you know the pain is coming kind of prepares you for it too.
i don't know if they let you use ipods...and honestly it may not be a good idea. when the needle touches your skin-it stings, and if youre not expecting it-you may jump
it's not too loud. i may have a video of me getting one....lemme see.

i mean 2x during dental surgery i've not had enough numbing shit and could feel them and that hurt A LOT like a lot a lot a lot. like sickening. and i've had stitches before haha.
hopefully its like a mind over matter thing like...if i am mentally prepared then i can get through it without like totally dying. i have a pretty high pain tolerance. 4/28/2010 8:46:16 PM |

I am not brave enough to get a rib tattoo or an inner arm tattoo.
I do have to say the worst place for me was my calf. It sucked like what! I also got one done on my middle lower back and I cried....streams but not blubbery. I felt like the worst person ever because my tattoo artist felt so bad. 4/28/2010 9:24:41 PM |
