we looked terrible. didnt have our star player for the last 5 minutes. and only lost by single digits.

^^Duke led the conference in % in 2006-07 and 2004-05. That's two out of the last 4 years.

We were third best in the ACC at 74% last year and now at the bottom.

Finally found last year and UNC led in conference play:

1. North Carolina 16 316 404 .782

If free throws are coaching, then why hasn't Shaq become a good free throw shooter after a lifetime of coaching? Does that mean every coach he has played for is bad because their coaching didn't improve him?

The truth is that these kids have been practicing free throws from the moment they picked up a ball. Whether it be a high school or AAU coach, someone has worked with these players and they have a a good idea of what works for them. Some people are just better at than others.

Why would you assume that Sid hasn't be working with them constantly on this? You've got to give Sid enough credit to assume that he is working on our team's free throw shooting at every practice just like every single coach in the history of basketball does.

They probably drain every free throw in practice and then get out there in a game and fuck it all up.

How bout you look up how well the UNC and Duke players shot FTs in HS, and how much they improved once they got to college and were able to take advantage of Roy and K's superior FT-coaching

Lets not forget that Sidney Lowe went on the jumbotron at the RBC Center and spoke about conserving water and then the News and Observer printed that he has been fined by the City of Raleigh multiple times for failure to comply with water regulations.

You would think Lowe would have grabbed this team by the balls after nearly losing to one of the worst teams the nation has to offer. Our players look so ridiculous out there playing basketball. I mean they literally looked stupid and ignorant in about every phase of the game. And this pattern continues into Lowe's 4th year....... but, you can't judge if a coach is good in his 4th year right?

I wasn't a huge fan of the officials btw, but he picked up his 5th foul on a complete retarded play. Why show 30 feet from the hoop when fouls are called on that 100% of the time. You can't bump a guy showing help... Ugh, I was so mad about that play (not the call, but Smith's decision)...

Gotta pick up the slack but this REALLY hurts...

well, due to that, I've become very familiar with the Pac-10 and UofA basketball. Let me tell you -- ARIZONA WILDCATS ARE PITIFUL. like really bad. their 4-5 record is inflated.

having that said, we will lose this game with Tracy out. their only good players are Nic Wise (PG), Solomon Hill and Derrick Williams. the latter two will rip our guts out with Tracy suspended.

Tracy = WIN
No Tracy = EMBARRASSING LOSS (not embarrassing score-wise...but embarrassing because they're fucking horrible)

this is a case of East Coast Ignorance. people are scared of the name "Arizona" because of their rich tradition under Loot and their 1997 title. well, they've gone through 3 or 4 coaches since Loot stepped down. THEY ARE NOT GOOD. they'll be good in a few years....but for now, this is a must win for us. a loss to a 4-5 team will hurt when Selection Sunday rolls around

^The thing that really hurt Arizona with regards to the transition from Lute to Sean Miller was that the program missed out on two whole recruiting classes because no one wanted to commit to a school where they had no idea who would be the coach next year. It's definitely a must win though for State, but losing Smith is huge and if Gonzalez can't play big minutes we're in big trouble.
