Javi became serviceable at the very end of his freshman year and you would have hoped he would've progressed even further by the beginning of his sophomore year, but he wound up regressing until the end of the season when he (out of nowhere) started going nuts from 3.

so a guy plays most of the time for 2 years and you think he's not going to get better on his own? sidney fucking sucks at any sort of offensive gameplanning. and probably defensive too, but that's not as obvious as when we have the ball, dribble out around the 3-pt line, don't do a fucking thing with it, don't set any screens, get anybody moving, back door, etc, etc, i don't even know basketball and it's painful. I don't think he should be fired, because next year might be the best we've had since he's been here, but it will only be because of recruiting and experience, not any sort of development/coaching.

I basically agree in principle, although I don't really remember anyone being excited about last year's class, and this year's class has managed to come in and really not make us any worse than we were when our top 3 players left. Wood, Howell, and Davis all look like they might be pretty good eventually. Vandenberg maybe if he ever learns to shoot.

I'm going to be honest, I turned it off in the first half when Howell lost the ball out of bounds on a totally careless play from a pass to the block.

If they weren't going to care enough to make the easiest of plays, I wasn't going to care enough to drag myself awake for another two hours after flying across the country.

^^ In Javi's case I think he has really benefited from playing under Lowe. But he is also a notorious hard worker and balls to the wall type of guy. You need that to develop. I don't see the same fire from a guy like Julius Mays, who is arguably more talented than Javi is even. I still think we made a mistake in not offering Chris Warren... and that is not second-guessing... I said it at the time Javi was offered.

Not a single team in the ACC is lower than 66th according to Pomeroy... except us, bringing in the rear at 101!

I think we should have still beaten Arizona with Tracy on the bench, and I was disappointed we didn't. the guys fought hard, but that doesn't matter much in the end. while i can say i was impressed with their attitudes and our late game comeback, i still think this was a bad loss.

^^ eh, it wasn't a great class by any stretch.

It was #14 WITH 'Zo Brown. Without him we only had two Top 100 guys. We have gotten 6 or 7 of those type of classes the last 10 years, including one with Lowe in his first recruiting seasons.

NEXT years class rivals the Hodge class in terms of incoming classes (Hodge's was Top 5 from a few places -- Levi getting hurt bad so early really killed the results from that class... what a
shame). Hopefully it has the same impact on the program that Hodge's did!

This team just isn't talented enough to get uptight. Too many people on here got hyped up about a win over a mediocre Big East team (picked 11th or 12th everywhere I saw) and ran with it. Don't blame the team or Lowe for that.

^ Grant's dunk was cool, but this decade includes three ACC Tourney finals appearances and five NCAA tournaments. A dunk in a meaningless season (NIT) in a February game shouldn't even be Top 10.

3-13 is my prediction as it has been since I found out 'Zo wasn't going to be here.

i certainly don't think Sid is a perfect coach, and im not happy with the way our program is, i don't like losing to ECU and all that shit...but i think most people's opinions are more pragmatic than anything. we're not going to do any better if we let sid go, and we don't want to lose Harrow, Brown, and hopefully Cothron.

I have a problem with the guys on here blaming everything on the players. Like ^. Horner was a nationally ranked 3* coming out of HS. Same with CJ, Javi, and Mays. Most of these guys should be playing at a consistently high level, night in and night out especially as upper classmen. But they are not. Whose fault is that?

Every team can count on one or two 3*s not panning out. But every single recruit Sid has had has under performed. I can't think of one player that over-achieved while under Sid. You could argue even Tracy Smith (a 4*) is about par with expectations.
