From Don Curtis http://www.wralsportsfan.com/asset/colleges/unc/2010/12/17/8793411/082710_Great_job_last_night.pdf

"And Now an Offer:
Perhaps a one hour program on the our discussing the whole compliance problem facing all schools....Perhaps involving Yow From State, Dick From Carolina, and maybe a third. Such a program would focus on the problem of compliance with the current situation used as just an example of how difficult it is to manage. We have 72 stations acorss the state. Program couid be taped, rather than live. Would not involved listener call ins. Host of Pro ram would not be investigating but rather conducting a interview on compliance issues and programs. stations reach 1.2 Million North Carolinans....this is more than the combined circulation of Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro Dailies, As hot a issue as this is, (think we could get clearance on all of the top News/Talk, and sports talk stations as well."

Land Rover, BMW, Acura... and lots of NISSANS...

Oh, and

Quote :

for the 11 RT @BaxterCavendish: @bylinerp just to clarify, is that 395 citations for the 11 players or is that program as a whole?"

So if that PDF is just 11 players worth, some of them have been switching up they whips over the past few years.

whoever is the driver of the BMW with plates RTV5111 had a rough 8/20 - 9/17. Racked up 8 tickets in this time period

so, I havent been keeping up with this as much as I shouldve. Are these unpaid parking tickets? What is the real importance of all this stuff - is the university covering the tickets up or is it a bigger issue with possible vehicle lending violations similar to Ohio State?

I'm just wondering if this is really as big of a deal as we would like it to be

I got three parking tickets in a week at NCSU once. Forgot I parked at a parking meter and left my car there for two days. I can't believe it wasn't towed.

Yeah a key piece of information is "did they pay these fines?" I would say no based on how many fines these guys racked up. If you can show that UNC was "taking care" of these tickets for them, watch out.

here's the way i clearly see it playing out...

the parking tickets are a cover. registered legitimately, the tickets are paid by boosters & coaches who actually dump the money into a slush fund (>$13,000 into a hidden reserve), which Chapel Hill PD dispenses into brown paper bags marked "Marvin's Lunch" hidden in predetermined locations as follows:

1) Players (the bar)- back right zebra print round table, ducttaped under table top
2) the P2P drunk shuttle
3) Marvin Austin's fat ass
4) the massive butt crevice formed between Marvin Austin's left and right boob

Would names ordinarily be in a ticket though? If you get a ticket on campus, they don't know who they're giving the ticket to right? They just write it up.

^^^Yeah but the ticket would be tied to the registered owner of the vehicle. So if it goes unpaid they know who to go get the money from.

Also, NCAA knows which athletes have registered which cars so even if we can't match this up the investigators should be able to see if there are any discrepancies with what is registered and what is seen here.

EDIT: Also even though you can't match a license # to a person through DMV records a violation should be a matter of public record like any other crime or violation.

Ah yeah true. I was just thinking that with public records requests, the government body isn't required to create a new document if the data already, so the names wouldn't ordinarily be in whatever spreadsheet they printed up for that list. In this case I guess they may have to create a new doc if the judge specifically ordered that the names and such come out.

^^^ the tickets themselves aren't the issue, it's finding out who owns the cars that athletes drive and how they got them, which has gotten OSU in a lot of trouble

Question: Is driving a car of a fellow student a violation? I know for instance you couldn't go driving a booster's car around.

Not to say I think you should hem players up for borrowing the car of a guy in the dorm for instance but is it a violation?
