Rezound is probably the best Android device on VZW right now. Lots of Google devs have recommended picking it up while you wait for Nexus. 11/22/2011 7:11:47 AM |

When the Rezound gets ICS it might actually be a better phone, so you probably wouldn't regret picking it up.

keyword there is WHEN and better is a bit subjective. The processor and gpu are still better than the S3 in the Rezound and HTC once again crams the smallest battery they can find in there. And don't forget no Sense to weigh everything down on the Nexus. That said, don't think you can go wrong with the Rezound as it's an HTC phone and will have a good development following. If I didn't already have a Thunderbolt and the Nexus wasn't coming, I'd definitely pick it up over the Razr. 11/22/2011 10:31:17 AM |

^agreed... i think the rezound fits the best in hand as well... it's heavy, but it's got a good feel to it and ran really smooth. i just hate the beats audio only works with the built-in music player and not other apps like Pandora, XM, Google Music, Amazon MP3, etc.

Has there been any word on if the Transformer Prime will work with the original Transformer's dock? I'd like to get one and keep the dock if possible....
Nevermind..looks like they didn't do that grrrr....

No it won't.
Cool thing I found out is that the dock has a battery in it, so it can increase the Transformer's battery life by an additional 6 hours.
Here's the TF201 dock, just added: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-TF201-Mobile-Docking-TF201-DOCK-GR/dp/B00685ZDB2/ http://www.amazon.com/Asus-TF201-Mobile-Docking-TF201-DOCK-CG/dp/B00685ZCZY/

I'm completely torn between trying to find a deal on the TF101 or waiting on TF201. I'd love the extra quadcore power but I can't justify spending $600+ on a tablet + dock. But I also don't want to wait in line at best buy...

seriously what do you need a dock for? it's a keyboard and additional battery. the tablet itself will already run 12+ hours. 11/24/2011 2:32:27 AM |
IS250tim All American 943 Posts user info edit post |
I use the keyboard on the Transformer all the time. The extra battery life is great when I'm flying cross country for work. Also typing on the keyboard is a lot easier than screen typing, still haven't gotten used to that on the touch screen of it's size. I will probably end up buying the Prime in the New Year. 11/24/2011 8:05:14 AM |

why are you typing so much? you actually use a word processor on a tablet? sounds like you are looking at the wrong device and should be looking at laptops.
assuming the average person is awake 16 hours out of the day i cannot see someone using a tablet for 12 hours... before being in proximity of a power outlet. particularly if all you know is the 3-4 hour battery life of a laptop, i don't think you'll need 18 hours for a tablet... i really don't see how this dock is worth $150 for anyone... maybe $50
On a side note, for those not waiting for the Prime:

have you ever used it? typing on it is light years better than with the touchscreen. that plus the additional ports could make it a great mobile device for practically anything you'd want to use a netbook for.

which begs the question - do you really need a laptop these days?

I use the Transformer's word processor when I'm jotting notes down on the plane, a lot easier to setup than using my 14" ThinkPad for work. The keyboard is also great in that it charges the device when there isn't a power outlet that you can charge it with. Definitely helps out. I know it's not it's main purpose, but I like the ability to use it. That and the dock also lets me add an external hard drive and other storage, which is great for a tablet, more media to watch on the plane with far more battery life than the regular laptop.11/24/2011 12:22:48 PM |

That's good to know. I was thinking that it would suck if the dock's battery was the only one that got charged and not the tablet's battery while it was docked.
Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the TF101 @hhgregg and also grabbed the dock on amazon for $99 (saw it momentarily drop from $109)
I will probably pickup the Prime in the future but most likely after a price drop.

Amazon has the RAZR and other phones for just $.01 with a contract, but it's for new customers only. I'm an existing Verizon customer with a grandfathered unlimited data plan. Guess I'm SOL and have to pay the full $299 or whatever it is if I want one. 11/24/2011 11:13:47 PM |

thanks BigMan157 i bought one too... using it on Galaxy Nexus here in a couple weeks, also have a $20 gift card from being 2nd to find the DroidX when they did that GPS scavenger hunt... latest rumor is that it's December 8th (which would fall in line with the Prime) and only $199... which I doubt.

For seriousness though... it doesn't matter what I am doing... Using navigation, playing a game, checking email, etc. It just pops up on the screen and goes away if I enter the captcha correctly (sometimes hard to do) or if I click the back button. Then I can just continue what I was doing either way. wtf
