All I was trying to say was that if a kid makes a statement I am going to believe him/give him the benefit of the doubt until he gives me reason otherwise. He may or may not go, but when he says "WOG here I come" I'm gonna take a guy at his word. 12/27/2009 10:01:48 PM |

harrow wanting to go to WOG is a lot different than harrow making the move to WOG. i do not doubt that, when he wrote that facebook status, he wanted to go to WOG. 12/27/2009 10:39:07 PM |

Although Id love to see Harrow come and play at WoG, its hard to believe he would transfer almost mid-season of his senior year.
Ribs is right that you cant get it from a more direct source, but he could just be saying/posting that out of emotion right now, knowing that it will probably not happen. 12/28/2009 9:19:40 AM |

Whoever shows up at the game please show up and cheer on CJ Leslie and Ryan Harrow as much as you possibly can and make sure you throw in some NCSU references. I really hope they realize just how big this fanbase is. I wish I could be there, but I'm gone for the holidays. 12/28/2009 12:03:39 PM |

I do like what he said about CJ leslie. But IIRC, we don't have enough schollys for harrow, cothron, AND leslie? Are we going to have to greyshirt someone a la Butch Davis? 12/29/2009 9:02:51 AM |

They've said he feels good, but I don't think that's the case since he doesn't play.

I've been wondering the same thing about Johnny. He's got to be recovering from injury. I haven't heard anything on him all season. He saw the court last season and looked pretty good. 12/29/2009 10:34:10 AM |

dude barely played. he was great in high school when he had a knee, but im pretty sure we're never going to see him again. which sucks. but hopefully CJL will take his scholarship
also, great to hear that Ryan thinks CJL will follow. we'll see if that happens...

JT played last year a lot like Davis is playing this year, although he didn't get to play as much.
He'd come in, grab a few offensive boards, play some good defense, and throw down the occasional sick dunk. I was hoping he'd contribute a lot this year, but it's just not in the cards. I'm glad Davis seems to have taken over his hustler role though. 12/29/2009 12:56:46 PM |

does he even have any ligaments at all? I wonder if he his knees are like that south park episode where kyle got surgery done, which put mr. garrisons balls in his knees so he could ball out. He goes to jump and his knees just explode

He didn't injure his ligaments, he tore some cartilage off of the bone, most likely on one of the femoral condyles. They said he had some kind of osteochondral defect. I bet he had some small injury early on that caused a lack of blood flow to that area, and the cartilage became weak resulting in it tearing off of the bone. The procedure for such an injury is to either graft cadaver or patient cartilage on the area. Another procedure is to harvest some of the patient's own cartilage chondrocytes, grow them up in a petri dish, then put them on the damaged area and cover it with a sheet of bone so that they will attach and become integrated into the area. I believe Toney Baker had to have this done besides the doctors fixing his ligament(s) (I can't remember if it was just his ACL or if he also injured any of the other knee ligaments). I don't know what procedure Johnny had done.
Articular cartilage injury
Other injuries that can occur during this injury (torn ACL, PCL, and medial meniscus)
Drawing of arthroscopic procedure
Debridement of the damaged articular cartilage area
Microfracture technique used to promote blood and marrow healing elements into the area of missing cartilage. While easy to perform it doesn't produce cartilage as durable as other techniques, b/c it is scar cartilage.
Osteochondral graft
Cartilage biopsy to be sent to a lab for culturing
Autologous chondrocyte implantation

^^^So the fact that it's been about two years and he hasn't played is normal or signals that he probably won't ever play?
In that harrow interview, he was clearly a little apprehensive about the burden fans are placing on him in terms of coming in and saving the team. Hope he doesn't see The Church of Rusellobrien page. 12/30/2009 12:22:50 AM |

IC message boards talking Harrow up is exciting, seeing as they shouldn't be biased (edit: or they usually are biased as unc fans). I still haven't seen him play live yet. Next year should be interesting.

~ 40sec mark, in a game of 21 its impressive, in an actual game. However, the sick handles aside, its his ability to do a nasty cross-over and create enough separation to hit a 15ft jumpshot that is honestly just a lost friggin art in basketball; its undefendable.
Don't know if its been update on here but Cothron interview said he is definitely signing in the spring period and that no one should take it as a slight that he didn't sign in the fall.
^ i honestly couldn't believe i was reading an IC msg board, then i just looked at some of those gay-ass usernames and i remember'd where i was 12/31/2009 6:10:36 AM |

The more I watch, the more Jeff Teague-like Harrow seems to me. Lightning quick, good shot, incredible ups for a little guy. The only difference is Harrow seems to have a much better handle, and that's saying something.
(note: I'm talking about the good Jeff Teague that single-handedly beat UNC last year ... not the one that vanished toward the end of the season) 12/31/2009 10:06:28 AM |

Cothron probably started feeling good about us again after he saw how much Painter blew. If Howell continues to pick it up he's going to Alabama (or wherever), though. He has a very similar game to Richard, so I'm not really sure how much I could blame him for that either. I still don't understand why we went after him instead of Mychal Parker. 12/31/2009 3:05:46 PM |

cothron has skills, no doubt. BUT, he also has 2 bad knees and he doesn't show the intensity/effort all the time which would get him on the bad side of most of our fans. 12/31/2009 3:23:18 PM |
Erios All American 2509 Posts user info edit post |
^^ The main reason for that I think is that in the late spring this year, Lowe knew he needed a big man more than he needed a shooting guard. At the time, Vandenberg and Painter weren't on the radar. That meant that State had Dennis Horner (senior), Tracy Smith (Jr.), and Howell (freshman) to man the post. Not exactly an overwhelming amount of talent. On the flipside, State already had Harrow and Brown coming in in 2010. Both of those guys can potentially play SG. It didn't make sense to go pick up another SG when State clearly needed a post player.
Parker is a good talent and I wish we could have gotten him, but Lowe needed a sure bet at PF and Cothron was it. That about sums it up. 12/31/2009 6:05:50 PM |
