strongbow is the best, hands down, but it's expensive...woodchuck is pretty good...hornsby's only if i'm desperate 9/5/2008 4:30:21 PM |

I got it bottled at Total Wine because they were giving samples. I only had the pear version, but it was good. I want to try the others. I do love Strongbow if that tells you anything, and I agree with your rankings. Original Sin is good too, at least if I'm remembering correctly.

For the ACE stuff, go to World Market. They have it there, along with a lot of other interesting beers. They also sell singles for $1.89/each.
Here is my current collection for taste-testing (thanks to a trip to Sam's in Durham):
I've tried the Nut Brown Ale on the left... wasn't impressed. I'd give it a 6. I also tried Newcastle and liked it a lot. ON TO THE NEXT!!11 9/6/2008 1:42:28 PM |

Skwinkle...i went to TW and, apparently, the only thing they carry is the pear...i'm not a huge fan of pear cider (woodchuck's, at least)...i didn't get any ($10/6-pack ain't cheap for something i likely won't enjoy)

Killians and Blue moon are both cheap beers made by American brewers although killians is ok it is by no means a good beer in snob terms.
Was in Tennessee last weekend and went crazy in the beer store. Not sure what all I got but Japan makes a good beer and the Philippines cannot. 9/7/2008 10:58:01 PM |

Not saying Newcastle isn't bad (although not the biggest fan myself)...but I doubt you'd find too many people that would say it's better than a Sammy Smith Nut Brown Ale. I've had a less than stellar Sammy Smith yet...and although I'm not particularly fond of Brown Ales...I find the Sammy Smith one very delicious.9/10/2008 1:01:15 PM |

Oskar Blues Gordon Ale Dogfish Head 90-minute IPA Lagunitas Brown Shugga Lagunitas Cappucino Stout Avery Maharaja IPA Bell's Two-hearted Ale
Has anyone tried Dogfish Head 120-minute IPA? I'm dying to try it again, but it's fairly pricey here. $20 at the only bar the serves it around here (Cape Canaveral, FL).

While I'm glad I tried it once, it's definitely not something I would buy regularly if it were available here, it's way too sweet for my tastes.
Only one week till Stone is available in NC!!

it's sweet? the 90-minute is the most bitter beer i've ever tried
at least for $20 its 20% alcohol so you get 1% for every dollar 9/10/2008 3:18:38 PM |
