gunzz... I got my 350D (w/ kit lens) last wednesday, and I really like it. I ordered it from Newegg when they offered it for $649 (after rebate). I would like a few other lenses, but I just can't afford them before the cross-country road trip I'm taking in a week and a half. I'm still learning the ins and outs of all the settings and modes though. PM me if you want to ask any specifics.

I loved my Rebel XT. It was my pride and joy.
Until I got my 30D.
Now I just need some different lenses
Someone spot me 1200 bucks for a 24-70.

That being said, i really haven't shot as much as I'd have liked to recently. I've been too busy. It sucks

zip: thanks. i tried to skew the image above to level horizon but it seemed weird so i left it at it. the bridge seems to exagerate the unlevel horizon.

here's a different view:

^That's an awesome shot. I really like how the undercurrent stands out in the water below the fall.

beans....maybe its just me, but it looks like you keep oversaturating / over-contrasting the sky in your pics. the blue sky seems overly blue to seem real, and the clouds tend to lose detail with the higher contrast. other than that, awesome shots. like i said, maybe its just me since i'm still a rookie in the game and the guy w/o the SLR.

i did enhanced the saturation of the image spefically the blues. It's an attempt to copy the VELVIA slide film effect which most landscape photographers used when shooting film.

^dependant on what you are trying to do and how you are trying to get them...

but wolf camera makes good prints. normally they take good care of the pictures... atleast the one i worked at. sams has the same as most wolf's, so then it would kinda depend on the people printing...

walmart and walgreens... places like that... not so much. sams does have a luster print which is nice...

online... i like mpix.com.

[Edited on May 31, 2006 at 3:05 AM. Reason : shot that in program i do believe... i think down a 3rd of a stop... 200mm at i do believe f8.]

i've been with you on that statement, afropino, kinda up until this page. these 2 niagra falls pics have been stunning from him, but yes, i do think the clouds are a bit fake looking in them, unfortunately. however, the water and trees look excellent in the last two.

yeah...my main concern was the clouds. they just seem washed out with the high saturation. maybe if you up the sat. on just the sky? other than that....those pics are amazing.

Hey coolbeans,

See the white halo around the man on the bench, in your shot? I think that's a tell-tale sign of a shot being sharpened too much in the postprocessing. I feel that if you reduced the amount of sharpening and sometimes the amount of saturation that you do after shooting, a lot of your shots may come out truer-looking, and in turn, more appealing? Just a suggestion, and I realize that last one wasn't your main SLR.

spookyjon/woodfoot with posting the canadian guy who owns us all --
we should keep this to just our own work?

but i agree, that guy's stuff is inspirational, and then after you've seen tons of it, downright depressing
