essentially its the same reason chuck didnt kick the field goal against akron, bc thought they could pick up a 4th and 2 to seal the game and didnt

[Edited on September 24, 2006 at 2:23 AM. Reason : that too]

^^ no, then it would have been 18-10 and we'd have had to go for 2 to tie (assuming we went down the field like we did on the next series)

[Edited on September 24, 2006 at 2:44 AM. Reason : they could ran it back and won by 1]

i was confused about why they didn't run for 2, being up 17-15 doesnt do you any good, and a run play is a tad safer than a kick (especially today with all the kicking fuckups going around) and if you fail you're still up 16-15. i mean sure the new timing rules pretty much guaranteed bc couldnt make a comeback, but you KNOW nc state is capable of fucking up and letting them get a decent enough runback and a penality to give them a fg opportunity at the end

I watched this game from the beginning and followed this thread with all the half ass fans....

meanwhile everyone was ripping on Evans, despite the fact that the majority of the fuckups were due to a collapsing offensive line, and receivers not finishing their runs

i give him mad points for being so confident and following through on the number of plays he did, i think the win was a bonus complementing his skills

first game, damn, he is something to watch

John Deraney doesn't fuck up.

Great video. I especially like the half-angry/half-nervous "throw the ball, throw the ball..."

i hope thats sarcasm because even if hes never missed, 17-15 is no better than 16-15...should have went for 2

as far as evans goes, he did make a few shitty plays, but a good deal of his missed passes were at the fault of the lead handed receivers we have...he did show composure out there though which is great, kids gonna be something if amato lets him develop (which he should have done with stone instead of playing davis in 2004 and half of 2005)

1st game, best QB among our selection, he is not PR, what the fuck do you want?

deflections could have been due to pressure in the pocket since our offensive line was horrible

we should not have went for 2. why risk anything when you can just take a knee. no matter how good deraney is a bad snap or pressure up the middle for a block (they blocked one at theh end) can give them an opportunity to return it for 2 points. if you go for 2 a fumble can lead to a retrun for 2 points. then we lose by 1 point all because of an unneeded pat.

"just got in so I dont know if its been discussed, but that was a retarded fucking decision by BC to not kick the field goal... is there something I dont know? was their kicker hurt or just horrible or something? That was so fucking stupid."

in the post game interview the BC coach said it would be a 50 yard FG and it just wasn't an option for them

basically, he knows their kicker sucks ass

Quote :

it's not his mistakes that matter

it's how he handles his mistakes and learns from them and keeps going despite making the mistakes

he never lost his confidence

he threw that interception, went and talked to marc trestmen, got a second chance, and proved why he was chosen to start the game

that's what separates him from our other QBs at the moment

Evans didn't look bad definately, especially for a first start, but let's not get delusional here. He did overthrow several receivers pretty bad, and looked shaken up most of the first half.

^^I was shaken up nervous for him....can you honestly say you wouldnt be a bit rattled with 57000 people chanting your name in your first start ever?

And like charlie said...to throw that pick and come back for the game winning drive shows some guts. that was just amazing poise.

app vs furman a couple of years ago........same type of situation. furman went for 2 and app returned it, and won the game. take the safe bet with only a few seconds left on the clock.

Yessir!

I'm moving it from my DVR to my PC now (s-video out into my capture card, saving as highest quality video), and will try to edit out commercials tomorrow afternoon and have it uploaded to like MegaUpload or somewhere for d/load by Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll keep you guys posted

Unfortunately I didn't DVR the SportsCenter w/ the top 10, but I got the whole game, start to finish. I'll get it up ASAP.

Anyone know what radio station Evans father was on?

I have got to hear what he said after that play, if anything. He said he was going to try to be professional while broadcasting even though his son was playing. I think it would be hard to remain neutral when that happened.
