I do not understand why it is so difficult for some people to understand that US foreign policy fans the flames of hatred and violence that reacts toward us.

Ever since the beginning we have instituted an aggressive policy of imperialism through polices such as manifest destiny. After the destruction ravaged during WW2; due to the power vacuum caused by the the decline of other super powers like the British Empire we directed our foreign policy outside of the western hemisphere as part of a neo-imperialistic policy partially to counter the spread communist russia.

Although the events of 9/11 and the current insurgency in Iraq are not justified, much like a kid playing with a hornets nest or poking a stick into a fire ant hill it should be expected to get stung.

Actually, he helped them out a bit by pulling troops out of a conflict in [some African country... I forgot which one] to avoid casualties after Al Quieda started to involve themselves (an anti-Clinton person would tell you he pulled out to avoid bad press/public opinion). Bin Laden then released a statement to the Islamic community that the Americans were cowards that would flee from them at the first sign of blood, and to attack them at every opportunity.
