Don't know if this has been answered but how many points did BC score when starting on their side of the 50?
I found it and the answer was 17 including the last two, which were against our tired D. Good Job Offense/Punter

^How about starting within their own 40, 30, 20? I'm sure the average field position stat is pretty lop-sided. It seemed we were always starting near the 10 yd line.
And share the blame. Sure, the punter sucked but the offense also did their part in handing them the ball deep into our territory.

^^Good job punter? Are you fucking serious? Sometimes I wonder if some of you that makes posts on here are actually watching the games. Nate Franklin GAVE BC a TD by dropping a punt and his punts when he got them off were terrible.
But Bradley Pierson came in and punted well I thought. 9/8/2007 8:05:54 PM |

Yeah, the "good job punter" thing was tongue in cheek all the way. I'm hoping at least.
I've asked this before, and haven't gotten an answer ... but where the hell is Jeff Ruiz? Wasn't he supposed to be the punter this year? Regardless of the dropped snap (which is completely inexcusible) Franklin was terrible. Beck's INT's hurt, but that dropped snap changed the game. 9/8/2007 8:30:02 PM |

TOB is an evil genius
Guy gets humiliated by us last season. He's bitter and seeks revenge by becoming our new coach and systematically crippling the program from the inside:
-Last week we weren't prepared to play -Then during the week he says the team isn't as good as they think they are and that they need a reality check -No QB -No running game -No secondary -5 INTs today -Key players are getting injured each quarter
And he does all while getting paid twice as much as he did at BC. The guy should know how to beat the team he used to coach (at least enough to make it close). We've humiliated ourselves two weeks in a row. TOB knows exactly what he's doing. 9/8/2007 8:50:41 PM |

nobody should be ok with 5 interceptions. Beck was personally responsible for 6 turnovers.
I keep reading idiots on PP that are ok with Beck as the starter for the rest of the season because of the yardage he put up. I swear to god if he starts he better have a tight fucking leash because he read the D worse than Marcus Stone EVER did and we all bitched and moaned about Stone not being able to look off receivers or know where the fucking D was. Beck was horrible today. He is an amazing talent but he has yet to learn how to play football and its obvious. I feel great about our chances with him if he can somehow see the field because he made some great throws today....
But every time put one on the money he threw another one into double/tripple coverage. He should have had 10 picks. Our run blocking was terrible but Beck actually had time to throw most of the time.
I'm back on the Daniel Evan's bandwagon (if he doesnt have that shoulder problem). At least we can just get our asses pounded in because we're not good....I'd much rather do that than give the other team 30 points a game. 9/9/2007 12:54:34 AM |

^^^^ it's not like anyone's saying 'i'm okay w/ throwing 5 pics every game in exchange for yardage'
but i am okay w/ this being a starting point to work from. evans not being athletic enough is not a starting point, b/c it's not going to change.
you can't watch a guy in his first start and assume that his decision making will never improve.

I'm just worried that the whole situation with Beck transfering and not beating out Evans isn't a fluke. Obviously he wasn't the guy at nebraska, he wasnt the guy before the season, and we dont really have someone better.
Don't get me wrong. Beck impresses the hell out of me with some of the throws he makes, but when he has to make a decision he is terrible. I just think that 6 turnovers is the minimum he could have had today. Its not like they made great plays...Beck just threw to players in coverage.
I'm not concerned about the athleticism. I'm concerned about the lack of vision.
Someone on PP said it best. You can win games with short throws and a few mistakes, but you cant win games with long throws for interceptions. IMO our D is good enough to keep us in games this year.
Now the biggest problem is the Oline not run blocking. They did OK in pass protection today but the ground game was horrible. Maybe a few nice runs inside can open some things up for whoever is behind center. 9/9/2007 1:07:28 AM |

IF we had any actual runblocking, then i'd agree that evans is the best choice. just don't fuck up and give it to brown and eugene all day.
BUT we don't. if we want to score we're going to have to score in the air. beck is the only player on this team who can do this. thus, you play beck and work on his reads.
it's not like evans has a great td/int ratio, himself.
v glad someone gets it.
[Edited on September 9, 2007 at 1:12 AM. Reason : except really, 2 ints per game would be fine if he was having good production otherwise.] 9/9/2007 1:10:43 AM |

jesus christ guys. If we keep throwing a new QB in there, we're not gonna get any fucking where. This was becks first collegiate Start. Give him a few games. This season is fucked now anyways....lets just see if he can make any ground. If hes still throwing 2-3 interceptions a game over the next 3-4 starts, then give Burke a try, or go back to evans. This BC Defense is pretty fucking good. You can't just throw beck under the bus because he was trying to make things happen today. Of course he has the gunslinger mentality, but the coaches just have to get on his ass about it and look at the tape and be like, "Ok, do you see what doing this gets us?" 9/9/2007 1:10:44 AM |

i agree Beck should stay in there even tho he had a bad day. Swapping QB's every week is the worse thing we can do right now. For one we have to see if Beck can improve some over some game experience. Also it has to be a confidence killer when u get pulled then randomly put back in the game as well, when a player knows they are going to be replaced if they do one thing wrong then they are going to play retarded and tense and not let it come to them.
However on the contrary i dont care how good beck can be or how many yards he passes for........but in a few games if he's still throwing a ton of picks something might need to be changed then. Like the drive before halftime he had some great throws but all that means shit if u throw a pick and get no points.
But for now Beck deserves a chance to improve 9/9/2007 2:11:05 AM |

Didn't someone post on here this past week that App State could not beat NCSU this year because NCSU beat App State last year? And App State wasn't as good as most D-1 programs, and NCSU had better talent. Then some people even agreed with the person that posted that garbage?

Had no problems with Beck today.
The reason he threw a bajillion interceptions and fumbled was because of our fucking piss-poor offensive line who cannot run-block or pass protect at all.
Our run blocking was not even on a high school level. It was SO fucking piss-poor. I was a mediocre at best high school lineman and watching the replay of this game made me fucking angry as hell. Absolutely inexcusable missed assignments, no effort, no follow through, bad form etc etc etc. It doesn't matter if we had Colt Brennan in the damn game, we are going to continue to get slaughtered until the o-line gets its fucking ass in gear.
Defense looked okay, much better than last week and did as well as could be expected given BC's retarded field advantage and ToP. 9/9/2007 2:46:05 AM |

Beck and Evans are both mediocre D1 quarterbacks. Mediocre QBs are what 80% of D1 teams have. We were just spoiled for 4 years with Rivers. Then reality struck and we've been stuck with mediocre QBs.
We've just gotta deal with it and improve other aspects of the game. 9/9/2007 10:56:33 AM |
