Just heard the new Weezer single. It's interesting, I guess. Can't really formulate any thoughts yet because I haven't heard a good quality version and also because Weezer is one of the few bands that I need to give it some time to step back and look at things objectively because of my interest in them. Initial reaction is that it's Beverly Hills 2, but much better and more interesting. Seems like the kind of thing that could be a huge hit. A lot of people are probably going to hate it. Maybe even me, eventually. Or maybe I'll love it. We'll see. It's the song Rivers wrote for the label after they told him nothing on the album would make a good single, so I guess it will be interesting to see what is on the album.

Basically it's like a verse of Rivers exploring more of his rap obsession and playing to the Beverly Hills radio crowd, followed by a kind of classic style big Weezer chorus. Doesn't really gel that well. OR DOES IT???
