Its sad when two of my better pitchers (Hudson, Webb) are getting completely raped by the pitcher I added as a spot start (kenny rogers). In a 16 team competitive roto league I would've been +7 or 8 if not for my shitty pitching tonight. 6/17/2008 11:33:16 PM |

Ahaha my team hit 8 homeruns in 2 days....Braun 2, Giambi 2, Hamilton 1, Beltran 2, Rollins 1
WTF happened to Webb? Glad I didn't trade Johan for him, and yes I was actually considering it. 6/18/2008 12:14:36 AM |

gotta love the DBacks puttin in their closer Brandon Lyon tonight when they were down 10-1. Lyon gives up a bomb and leaves with a 54.00 ERA. That killed my team ERA...

Loving the Giambino right now
And I watched Morrow for first time last night...he is really good
On my TWW team, I have two closers with some of the best stuff in the league in Morrow and Soria, but they don't get many saves because they play for shit teams
Then on the other end of the spectrum I have Todd Jones, who I'd have a fucking heart attack every time he went into the game if I was a Tigers fan 6/18/2008 10:40:56 AM |

fatass Bartolo Colon is back on the 15-day DL...anybody watch his at-bats versus Hamels? Colon is out with a bad back that he pulled on some wild whiff swings of some Hamels' changeups...one of the swings actually made his batting helmet fall off

fucking a, torn on this trade
I give up Josh Hamilton
I get in Johan Santana in return
this feels like it should be a no brainer, but Hamilton has been an absolute beast for me this year, plus he's from Raleigh so I have a vested interest on how well he's doing [no homo]
what do you think 6/19/2008 3:14:44 PM |

Hamilton will play in ~5x more games than Johan
i mean going into the season you wouldve thought Johan > Hamilton as a no-brainer but I too have had The Natural for most of this season and I wouldn't really give him up for anybody (except A-Rod but I already have A-Rod) 6/19/2008 3:16:24 PM |

oh haha nice...i mean johan is awesome, and on top of that he's a left hander, and on top of that, he gets to pitch to an opposing pitcher a couple times per game...but he just isnt as good as he was a few years ago, and even though the mets had a great comeback against the California Angels last night (where K-Rod's streak of 25 CONSECUTIVE SAVE CONVERSIONS was snapped) i just dont have faith in the Mets...havent since the end of last year 6/19/2008 4:59:38 PM |

What a piss-poor outing from him today against the Dodgers.

so i get ichiro (please start hitting) and jared weaver ugh
for quentin, cj wilson and casilla
if ichiro doesnt start hitting i'll be fucked, as im already short on power

based on past years i agree but im still optimistic about him this year...although the confrontation and emotional breakdown regarding the Royals announcer didnt surprise me one bit
still though, he leads the league in OBP and all his AVG, RBI, HR and R are very solid...i think he might miss this weekend's series with the Nats since its at Washington and hence no DH spot 6/20/2008 11:22:57 AM |

He's fine. He is a notrious slow starter. His career ERA coming into this year in April/May was over 4.00... his velocity always starts off slow. I can see where the concern lies, but as someone who has seen his every start, his breaking stuff is still sharp and the velocity has touched 94-95 when needed...6/20/2008 12:55:02 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148439 Posts user info edit post |
well...he got off to slow starts in 04 and 06 and then balled out by the end of the year...in 05 and 07 he was a lot more consistent throughout the season...my main hesitation with Johan is watching a guy who never lost more than 6 or 7 games in a season lose 13 games last year while allowing career highs in homeruns against and batting average against...granted your W-L record is greatly dictated by your run support and defense, but he just doesn't seem as dominant as he was a few years ago
he's still a baller but i think by the end of the year a couple NL pitchers with better numbers will be Webb, Peavy, and my main man Edinson Volquez...although Peavy is also not nearly as dominant this season as he has been in the past, and Webb has been sucking it up his last half a dozen or so starts] 6/20/2008 1:17:36 PM |

Santana has been everything I expected to this point. His ERA is just a tick above 3.00 and he's already thrown 100 innings.
He has given up 1 or fewer ER in 5 starts. He is 1-2 with 2 no decision in those starts. That is why you can't look at W/L. He started off giving up too many HRs (though all but 1 or 2 were bases empty) but he's only given up 1 in his last 5 starts.
I don't particularly like the "quality start" stat but it's 6 or more IP and 3 or less ER. Santana has done that in 12 of his 15 starts and in none of those starts has he given up more than 4 ER.
Further, before his hiccup in L.A. (and there was A LOT going on that night/day with the team) he had given up 2 ER in his last 3 starts combined.
He's getting stronger and I expect his ERA to finish in the mid 2.00's... 6/20/2008 1:31:55 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148439 Posts user info edit post |
i still like him and wish him the best and like i said W-L can be misleading, but look at his first few years as a Twins starter compared to last year...the W-L difference is staggering...also since we're talking fantasy baseball, a pitcher who goes 17-6 is a lot more valuable than one who goes 14-12 with all the same other stats...but maybe getting rid of Randolph will inject this team with some new life, seems to be working so far] 6/20/2008 1:35:39 PM |

my DL troubles continue
Soriano Putz Victor Martinez Bedard out with back spasms
and Marcum goes on the DL today
I have not been 100% healthy at anytime this year. I had Victor Martinez go down the 2nd game of the season and it went downhill from there.
At one point early in the season I had 5 people on the DL.
Somehow I am still in 2nd place (soon to be 4th places after a terrible week). 6/22/2008 12:05:13 AM |
