4.5 out of lead, 3.5 out of wild card. Three game series next weekend vrs the phils could bring the braves REALLY close. IF they hadn't choked away Friday night it would be 3.5 out and 2.5 wowwww

went to the game last night, and was a bit disappointed to see the low attendance with the braves returning from such a strong road trip (~19,000 last night). but actually, it makes things easier when the stadium is empty, as it has been for the 5-6 games i've been to this year. if any of you come to town for a game, the best practice is to buy $10 tickets for seats at the top of the upper deack, walk into the stadium and head directly to sections 219-221 in the lower level along the right field line, and take any of the numerous available seats.

Lets hope for at least 2 of 3 vrs the phils and get within 2.5 at least! I want the wild card but we are so close to the division too.. then again everytime I post things go downhill. But 60-54 and 17-9 since the break has me excited! From 43-45 to this, the best record in the NL since the break. Keep it going boys!

Pitching matchups this weekend do not favor the Braves other than Friday:

Blanton (who's been pitching very well the past two months) vs. Jair

Hamels vs. Mr. 5 innings garbage arm Kawakami

Happ (and his 2.60 or whatever ERA) vs. Vazquez.

Hopefully Javier and Jair will pitch their typical strong games and we can get enough offense to squeak out wins on Friday and Sunday. I feel Saturday will be a lost cause with Kawacrappy trying to throw his shit ball against guys like Victorino, Utley, Howard, Werth, and Ibanez.

last night was one of the most frustrating games I have watched. We totally outplayed them and lost. We stroked Blanton, only to get 1 run. And then Soriano leaves one hanging. Not to mention the 5 shots to the warning track, including the very last one by McLouth (who had an incredible game). And Victorino, WOW.

But it does give me hope for the next 2 and the rest of the season.

Good game offensively last night. Too bad none of the other wild card contenders lost except Florida. Fucking Rockies win more close games than anyone. Hopefully that will catch up with them come Sept.

Alright, SF and COL have a 4 game series, then the Rockies play the Dodgers and Giants again. We get the Marlins and an off day, then San Diego. I'm thinkin we win about 5 out of 6 and are leading the wild card by the end of next week. And then we'll probably blow it down the last month, but whatever. At least we're somewhat relevant

^ Highly unlikely. The Rockies will probably win all three series against LA and SF. They are playing much better than either of those two teams. I hope the Braves can take 2/3 from both the Marlins and Padres and continue their consistent play. Atleast the Braves won't face Josh Johnson this weeked

Also Kawakami really looked okay last night outside of the 1st inning. He was throwing nothing but strikes most of the game which was refreshing. Gotta give Roger McDowell some props for turning Kawakami's season around.

Even though we won the series, we made up no ground in the division, (not like we can catch the phillies anyway) or the wild card. We need San Fran to take down Colorado tomorrow. and then we need the dodgers to come in and win the series. Colorado has a tough 7 games ahead of them. 4 more with san fran and three with the dodgers, hopefully we can capitalize

^ We have very little chance of catching the Phillies. We need the Rockies to either cool off or for the Dodgers to continue their Met-like collapse. I guess if we swept the remaining games we have against the Phils, that would put us right there with them, but very unlikely.

Last night's game was fucking embarrassing from an offensive standpoint. 6 damn hits in 12 innings!. Fuck you top of the lineup (Infante, Prado, Chipper = 0-16). You would think they faced Cliff Lee last night. No just some rookie and a bunch of shitty middle relief guys. I feel bad for Jair. He should be in the Cy Young race, but won't get a mention because his run support is so bad.

Holy fuck last night's game pissed me off. Up 3-0 through 5. Kawakami is cruising having retired 10 straight. Then all of the sudden the fucking Padres score 12 runs in the final 4 innings while the Braves flail away against a bunch of shitty middle relievers.

Seriously way to shit away your wild card hopes against one of the worst teams in baseball. Just look at the Padres roster - it looks like the Mets current healthy roster.

what the hell is up with attendence at the games? it looked like a damn marlins game the past two days? don't people know that if we had won these games we'd be lookin pretty good right now? of course we didn't win, and lost 2 games to one of the worst teams in baseball, but still..

and yeah, ship has just about sunk. get some young players in there (Diory?, whoever wants to play OF) and get ready for next year. don't even bother with hudson except to make sure he's good for next year, keep mcclouth out a little longer

^ The Braves are offering $3 tickets to the games against the Padres if you bring in a canned food item. Seriously they should just give the tickets away at this point and hope to make some $$ off concessions.

School started last week, so that generally knocks attendance down. I went to a Tuesday game a few weeks ago and attendance was actually decent (~30K). Last night it was likely due to the weather - we had some pretty fierce storms around the metro area, downtown and north of the city, so that probably kept people away.

Anyhow, just a shame that with the starting rotation coming into form the braves haven't been able to make up much ground the past two months. I think it does show promise for next year. I mean, the current lineup/rotation has actually done well since early June, let's just hope the team can finish strong and be ready for a big push next year.

The Braves also picked a damn shitty year to contend for the wild card. The Rockies are ~18 games over 500 right now. That means they (or LA) could finish with ~95 wins which is high for wild card winners. Hope the Braves do get to the 85-90 win range just because I want them to have some type of confidence heading into 2010.
