acc has been on the slide the last few years. acc teams get hyped at the beginning of the season, raising their rankings artificially, and raising their computer ratings artificially. So, when teams start shitting the bed in conference, they don't get penalized as much as they should because all the losses are to supposedly good teams.

The beginning of the season being pre-conference, not before the season altogether. Actually, poll ranking is an input into some of those computer ratings, as well. So, even pre-season ranking can affect them.
