Meh I'm glad Boise won, it makes for interesting conversation if they start getting close to running the table. I actually think VT looked pretty athletic, and that is an impressive win for Boise. VT is going to have a big year still I think.

I still think Boise won't run the table so it won't matter.

Don't really give a shit about conference pride. People are going to have their perceptions of the ACC and to some extent even winning games like that won't help. Right now if the ACC wins big games it is going to be more talk about the team they play being overrated than the ACC being stronger this year. If I'm not going to cheer for UNC to beat LSU then I'm not going to all the sudden root for VT.

I'm guessing they'll sell quite a few of those jerseys. Those were sick... I wish we didn't suck so we could wear cool shit every now and then.

Literally not one person on that team is on this current Boise St. team. So I don't see the point in bringing it up.

so, using your logic, starting in the 2011 season no one can bring up the Boise State/Oklahoma game at all?

I could be off by a year, but wasn't 2006 the year they won the Fiesta Bowl for the first time?

Not only is not a single player from that 2005 team still around but the coaching staff, including the actual head coach, is nearly completely turned over, too.

There is one FACT that will never change. The old guard (SEC, Big 10) will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER give credit to a non-BCS team. EVER.

and once again, i said they were a great team, BUT:

Quote :
"thing is, this game was close, REALLY close, could have EASILY gone either way... now, if they were in a real conference they would have a similar game next week, then the next, then maybe a break, then another one just like this one, etc. Chances of running through that are a lot less than playing San Jose State, Toledo, Utah State. Sure they can get up for one big game a year, but to do it week after week with no margin for error..."

played great tonight, but if they then played Alabama next week, then Georgia, then Florida, then an off week, then Auburn etc. I will give them a lot more respect than doing the same thing with Utah State, Toledo, and San Jose State.

They have Oregon State coming up in two weeks. They also have Fresno State and Nevada that could trip them up. Why can't people give them respect. It's not like they are Gonzaga basketball who's been living off of their Elite Eight run from 1999 for fucking ever, and can't get out of the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament anymore. They are beating teams in the Top 25 routinely and even though they do play in a weaker conference than the BCS conferences, they usually stomp their competition, which is why they are going to move to the Mountain West which can be argued is close to if not better than the Big East recently.

THey didn't even have the same head coach in 2005, it has no relevance to the current program.

I didnt say he was leaving, I was pointing out what you all were saying about if the coach leaves then the past history of the team in meaningless...

and I like how the anti-Jaybee people have come out of the woodwork when I started posting but before I said a word almost everyone was bashing Boise State... once again, most of you dont use logic, you just hate anything I say

and one more time, all I was saying was: if they then played Alabama next week, then Georgia, then Florida, then an off week, then Auburn etc. it would be harder to go undefeated and more impressive than doing the same thing with Utah State, Toledo, San Jose State, etc. I refuse to see how anyone that knows anything about college football can dispute that.

Next week when FSU takes on Oklahoma and Miami takes on Ohio State will matter more to the perception of the ACC's image than UNC losing to LSU and VT losing to Boise State.

Not just the coach

It would also probably have some relevance if that was the only Top 20 or 10 or 5 team they've played in the last six seasons. But the fact is they are like 10-1 (complete guess) against those teams so bringing up the ONE game they lost like it's some sort of trend is flat out silly.

Quote :

No one is disputing that, but that schedule is really not one that many SEC teams face. Not at least with a break like Vandy, UK or (this year's) Ole Miss thrown in there aside from whatever odd, crappy FCS team that they like to play in mid-Nov.

everyone should join the sec then. and teams that don't make in should be demoted to fcs. O i have an idea.

Better yet, we should just promote the sec teams to their own league for having such tough, unique scheduling and give them a championship game to see who is the best. Then they don't have to bother participating in the playoff for the normal division....o wait

Also, with these small conference schools it isn't there fault they don't play a tougher schedule or aren't in a major conference. You can't blame Boise it isn't like they are intentionally trying to play a weak schedule so they can go undefeated.

You don't think Boise would rather be in the Pac-10? I love how on the one hand the BCS schools look down on the non-BCS schools, however it is an exclusive club and if you are on the outside looking in you are pretty much fucked.

"Hey why don't you play a tougher schedule?"
"Ok want to play a game then? We'll even travel across the country..."
"No thanks."

I understand that is just the way it is, if your a non-BCS and want a shot at a big boy your probably going at best to a neutral site near the other team, BUT when the team does go and do that you have to give them credit. The rest of Boise's schedule has nothing to do with how good the team is or how impressive the win tonight was.

No one has a problem with "The" Ohio State University doing this every year. In fact they need about three losses before people stop talking about their NC appearance.

^ OSU has actually made a reasonable effort to schedule tougher teams (Texas, USC, Miami) in recent years so that is a weak argument. Plus the Big 10 >>>>>>>>> WAC.

I am not a hater on BSU, but their SOS will be shit compared to most automatic qualifier schools.

They'll schedule a decent opponent as one of the first games in the season in hopes that everyone will forget about the loss come time for bowl selection. It would be one thing if they actually won in one of those tough OOC games. They'll likely do it this year.

Can't blame them on the strategy... and it is more honorable than scheduling nothing but cupcakes.

would make sense if it was only the shitty teams that do it, and if I only did it during years when Tennessee is shitty... neither is the case so your point is wrong. And I dont see where exactly I have been "talking shit".
