I dont know anyone who says average muslims are the "embodiment of evil". Your trying to spin the topic.....
Let me fix this for you...
What's a good term for people who identify that muslim fundamentalists and militant muslim groups account for the majority of terrorist acts over the past decade?
Factual..realist..
Seriously, any level headed person would agree that putting a mosque next to groud zero is legal, but its just poor taste. Thats why the majority of the people oppose it.8/19/2010 2:38:14 PM |

The founder of the mosque is currently on a trip to the middle east, sponsored by the State Dept, to promote religious tolerance. He is, in fact, doing exactly that: telling muslims to stop being terrorist dicks, and America is super cool. 8/19/2010 2:39:33 PM |

I have no problem at all with a mosque being built in that location. I do have a problem with people making it an issue based on nothing more than that, and also a problem with the means by which they seek to stop it.
That said, I also have a problem with some of the rhetoric spouted by the cleric of this mosque, and the fact that it's 2 blocks from the WTC site only aggravates that. 8/19/2010 6:48:50 PM |

You know, I'm all for debating, but the fact that this is still an issue - and getting hours of attention on network television - is fucking pathetic. There are more important things going on in the world right now. This is being used as a distraction. 8/19/2010 8:43:22 PM |

I'm sorely disappointed that forth-coming Mosques all over the country are also encountering resistance now. It's like people just realized that mosques existed in this country; all-of-a-sudden our anglo-christian paradise is under attack.
Edit: ^^ If you were making that point, then you wouldn't have described the mosque as being "in poor taste". Also, I pointed out that christian terrorist attacks "in this country" outnumber muslim ones. Anti-abortion incidents alone establish that.

Do you think people in the US would have a higher opinion of the muslim religion if they showed a little compassion and didnt build a Mosque beside a place where islamic extremist killed thousands of Americans?
I dont believe any of your data around Anti-abortion incidents. Please provide if you have it but I will say this. I hope you realize that "christian terrorist attacks "in this country" outnumber muslim ones", and calling America a "anglo-christian paradise" are likely related. From your own words, you say the volume of Christians in the US far outnumber the muslim population and then rant about how christian attacks out number muslim attacks in the US. You have to weight the data. 8/20/2010 4:04:12 PM |

There have been at least a dozen involving arson, bomings, and/or murder. Just google or wiki anti-abortion violence. It's been on the news enough throughout the past two decades to be common knowledge.
The proportion of Muslims to Christians in America doesn't matter since the vast majority of islamic terrorism that occurs in the USA is not home grown. 8/20/2010 4:52:24 PM |

You shouldn't. I mean, if this is a race between a global mass movement of Islamist imperialism and a dozen or so deranged anti-abortionists, then there's really no race at all; all you've really got is a half-baked attempt to change the subject. 8/20/2010 5:01:38 PM |

So the way to fight radical islam is to condemn and ostracize the reasonable muslims, of which the vast majority in the US are?
If your reason for hating this mosque is because muslims are too violent, then you are working against your own goals. The most logical thing for you to do would be to support moderate muslims in the US. Unfortunately, it seems you are choosing to side with terrorism in this situation.
Quote : | "Do you think people in the US would have a higher opinion of the muslim religion if they showed a little compassion and didnt build a Mosque beside a place where islamic extremist killed thousands of Americans? " |
Now you are just being dishonest. You know damn well™ that people have been opposing mosques all around the country recently. It has nothing at all to do with where these people are building this particular mosque/community center. Americans like yourself, and many others, don’t understand what America is really about, and they don’t understand why we are often morally superior to the mid-east countries. You are taking a position that makes the US look no better than them, instead of the logical, rational position that is embodied in the spirit of the first amendment of the Constitution.8/20/2010 7:26:18 PM |
