There are such things as upsets, but I'm not convinced that their loss really qualifies as one. They've only beaten one top-25 team all year, and even that team was borderline. Any other time they played a quality team OOC, they lost, and they even struggled against other questionable teams, too. Beating the shit out of nobody squads in your conference all year doesn't make you the best team in the nation. It just makes you the best in your conference.

Seeding isn't about who you beat, it's about who you didn't lose to. Just schedule a bunch of teams in the 75-175 RPI range and you'll be alright.

i heard on the radio the other day that Division II schools don't count against (or for) your RPI, whereas shitty D1 schools do

apparently the Mountain West as a conference had like 14 or 16 total games against D2 schools, which over-inflated their RPI

something the selection committee needs to take into consideration

I didn't know about that D2 loophole. That's some bullshit, and it needs to be fixed.

But until then, looks like the formula is to schedule teams you know you can beat, but not terrible teams, unless they are D2 teams.

for our OOC schedule, lets just schedule like Indiana, Kansas, and a dozen D2 teams

then our RPI will be top-5 when conference play starts

and if we can convince VT, BC, etc to do the same, we'll get 9 teams in the big dance next year
