While Brewer was garbage last year, he looked pretty damn solid before he went out last night. And Motley looked like hot garbage. I think this bodes well for us. Beamer isn't known as an offensive mastermind. I can't imagine him putting together a game plan on the fly that will make that offense dangerous under Motley. Their defense looked pretty stout, however.

VT has a big-time Freshman that they were hoping to redshirt, they'll have to consider burning the redshirt now. Can they really afford to waste this season's top 5 defense?

Brewer suppose to be out 4-5 weeks, so means he could still potentially be back for our game. Given that it'll be a short-week though, I'd be surprised if he made it back for our game. Either way, the new QB will have 4 weeks to get prepared.

Either way, it's going to be a tough game. VT's DL is going to be the best our OL sees all season(easily top 5 DL in the nation if not #1 overall), so it might be first team to 14 wins.

There is no way Brewer is back in time for our game. Going in for surgery today and I've seen quotes of 4-8 weeks for recovery.

Beamer has some interesting decisions to make in the next few days. Burn the redshirt to try and leverage your amazing defense, or take an underwhelming 2nd option to battle for the rest of the season and hope your defense is enough to keep you in games.

Surprised they were able to take his shirt off, put on a new one and get him back on the sideline so quick if it was a fractured collarbone.

My only guess for the quick projected turnaround is that it's on the nonthrowing arm.

That was kinda sad that they showed the VT quarterback in the locker room at halftime, and he was talking about an earlier hit where he was crushed between two defenders, and he said something like "they're going to have to hit me a lot of harder than that if they wanna take me out of the game". It's not surprising VT's defense fell apart. They lost all momentum/hope when Brewer went out, and then the defense got worn out and weren't playing with great field position.
