I still can't believe they overturned that charge (or that it's even possible to review those types of calls). That was game over. 6/1/2018 7:53:42 AM |

They got it right after review. LeBron is clearly still sliding over after Durant starts his shot. It was clearly a tough call as on the floor one official called it a charge and another called it a block, but the end result was correct. 6/1/2018 8:04:23 AM |

I can't decide what's going to happen in game 2.
Felt like almost everything (outside of the refs) went Cavs way last night. Insane game from Lebron (52 points on 32 shots), Klay injury scare, +15 rebound advantage, hung with GSW for the 3rd quarter, ect... but they still couldn't pull it off. On the other hand GSW almost look bored after wins.
The blueprint is there for the Cavs to pull this off. Warriors really miss Iggy. Plus no one outside of Lebron and Love (21/13 but 1/8 from 3) had a stellar game. 6/1/2018 9:15:43 AM |

Anticipating they get blown out. That is a devastating loss. You pull out Game 1, then Game 2 is a bit of house money and go home feeling good 1-1. Could see them coming out flat and just losing by 20+.
Just the fact it is competitive is amazing. That Cavs roster overall stinks. Wish it was a healthy Kyrie / Love / LeBron out there. 6/1/2018 9:53:02 AM |

I still say it was ridiculous. It was an extremely close call. And they basically used the "restricted area" argument (which wasn't really that close) to go back and review a different part of the foul. It's like reviewing whether or not there was a catch in football...but while you're reviewing that, decide that there was actually pass interference on the call.
The officiating was a little off in that game (Lebron James clear strip of Durant earlier)....not saying that it was horribly officiated in favor of GS...but Cleveland definitely didn't get any calls last night, which seems a little odd considering how big of an underdog they are and that they have the best player ever on their team (who is suppose to get calls).6/1/2018 1:18:18 PM |

in real time it was a charge
it’s absurd that they can change that call after reviewing it for one thing, watching a super slo-mo replay, and deciding to overturn the call over something they weren’t originally looking for

You do know fouls are called for and against players, right?
I also see no mention of Lebron dominating Durant all over the court last night. A lot has changed since last year's finals where it looked like Durant was really closing the gap on the king. Durant should send JR a thank you card this morning.6/1/2018 1:53:04 PM |

No, it wasn't. That's why the ref closest to the play called it a block on the floor. And it's clearly written in the NBA rulebook that once a block/charge goes to replay they have to make sure the defender was both outside the restricted area and has established legal defensive position. James slid and leaned after Durant had started his shooting motion. It was a bang-bang play live, but the refs got it right in this instance. It's reasonable that they didn't know if LeBron was in the restricted area. Refs have to keep track of a lot of things at once and not knowing where an off the ball defender is exactly is understandable. Better to make sure with replay than to blow a huge call in the finals. L I can't believe so many people are bitching about the refs getting a call right. The refs didn't make George Hill choke and they sure didn't make JR Smith go all classic JR Smith.]6/1/2018 2:33:57 PM |

I remember all those times that the refs changed foul calls on Jordan
Also, I like how everyone assumes that if JR Smith had called a timeout, or had passed it to Lebron or whatever, that the Cavs would've definitely scored.

It's complete garbage that they can go back and look at that one foul, but no other fouls throughout the game are reviewed. How about the bullshit foul of LeBron cleanly stripping the ball from Durant in the 4th? Or the next series when Durant stripped the ball from LeBron and got all hand/arm but didn't get a call? Both were blatantly incorrect calls that could've been fixed with review.
I heard a good comparison earlier, it would be like the NFL refs reviewing an incompleted pass out of bounds but during the replay they determine that pass interference happened. It's not right 6/1/2018 5:21:23 PM |

Quote : | "James was not in the restricted area, but you can see his body moving while Durant goes up for his shot. Therefore, the officials changed the call." |
So what if his body was moving? There is no rule that you have to be motionless to draw a charge.

Or you could link to the rule that says it's ok to actively move into the path of a player shooting the ball without being called for a blocking foul.
