^^much improved.

Traded my FDE AR-15 (stripped of accessories) and my 1911 today.
I picked up a M&P VTAC 9mm and a Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD in their place.
I'll get pictures of the new toys up later.

Anyone know of a good wall-mount, keyless shotgun lock box (similar to mossberg's loc-box, but keyless)? I've seen one, but it's about $180... was hoping to be cheaper than that. There's renewed interest in my current mossberg and I put that up for sale a while back thinking I could get a plain mossberg + lock box from the sale of my current mossberg.

Legal Carry Question:
I don't currently have a concealed carry permit. That means if I'm carrying my pistol - for example - to a friends house a block down the road, I have to have it openly visible, correct?

Yep, just don't cross onto a school campus, else you turn into an insane homicidal zombie, at least that's what the government tells me.

i'm helping some guys that will be putting on a pistol class on May 19th just south of Charlotte. Larry Brown is the primary instructor and has an insane amount of knowledge and an ability to put material in a simplistic way that is easy to understand and retain. No matter what your skill level, if you come with an open mind you will take something away.

for more info check out the link

http://www.carolinatacticalgroup.com/?p=17

Class is $140/person let me know if you want to come
discounts for groups or LEO

comparatively that is a good price. i would venture to guess once Carolina Tactical Group gets some momentum with these classes prices will go up.

Another thing, you can learn some of this on your own over time with a lot of rounds down range. I'm sure you will learn more in his class than shooting $140 worth of ammo on your own can teach you.

I'm taking the Defensive Concepts NC: Home Defense course that weekend, or I probably would have already signed up for that class.

I'm also looking forward to a Trace Armory Group for the new bolt action.

Why the M&P? Historically not a very reliable platform. The early ones anyway.

I have a FDE Glock.

The M&P is a special edition. Slightly upgraded (more recent) internals, different sights, and different finish.
I just wanted this over the 1911.

Hey folks, got a pawn question:

http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=627091

Basically, have decided to pawn (not sell) my AR for a quick cash bump due to some unexpected expenditures I'm not prepared for. Anyone have any trusted shops they recommend? Need to go today or tomorrow, preferably today. Thanks in advance

bit of a drive and I've never used them for pawning:

but they seemed like decent folks when I bought some firearms from them.

is that a short barreled 308 ?

maybe its just me but that seems like it would be ballistically similar to an ak round with a barrel that short.

just remember its a single stack mag and only holds 5.

they were supposed to have 10rd mags this month but nobody has even seen a picture of them.

once surplus dries up your commercial sources of this ammo are more limited than 308.

match grade 762x54r is probably equal to your average off-the-shelf 308.

most shooting ranges indoors or out dont allow surplus, and the ones i frequent wont let 762x54r period because they assume its steel core. most commercially available ammo is bi-metal instead of brass and will fail the range magnet test if they do so.

and yes they check the cases not just the bullets.

just my 2 cents! i love the round itself. its also a good bit cheaper than the 308 version i indicated. get the longest barrel possible; i think its funny they make a 16 inch, lol.

upgrades to a 308 platform AR-10 aren't so easy to do. The parts aren't nearly as interchangable as they are on the AR-15 platform.

I'll agree that it isn't as easy but still isn't too hard, I just did it with my Armalite AR-10. Already have a nice trigger so didn't need to change that, threw on a free float Troy rail, low profile gas block, and Magpul PRS stock. With that setup, the gun will far outshoot my ability.

precisely.

for example, id rather have the flagship epiphone lp instead of a cheaper gibson. for the same price one company is actually proud of the product and players love it.

the other has the name but is just a piece of shit.

i bet that VEPR in 308 would outshoot any comparatively priced semi-auto 308 by a sizable margin.

but the 762x54r would be a lot of fun.

ill throw these into the argument as well while we're talking about 308s. this page/discussion has been much more interesting to me personally than the standard AR talk.

these HK91 clones seem to have good reviews, american made on original tooling.

match grade barrels, the works. decent prices too.

im a fan.

Yeah the ptr 91 is nice...

I also like the scar-h but damn that sucker's expensive.

Ultimately i'm looking for something in the battle rifle realm, I already have bolt guns in 308 and 338 and a big semi too.

But i'm looking for something that's the long range equivalent of a 9mm. something i can put a shit ton of rounds through and really learn the weapon and be comfortable with it.

I mean my bolt guns after a few shots of getting dialed in i can shoot some TIGHT groups but i'ld like to be able to do the same with a semi- gun and give it a 2" circle rather then a 1.5" at 300 yrds.

I've decided to buy the AIMPOINT PRO, however I'm having trouble convincing SWMBO since I just picked up the SIG. She says that it can wait until my birthday - about 2 months away - while I want it for a school at the end of this month.
