I don't really like black rifles other than AR-15s. I think that a black stock just makes the rifle appear to be of a cheaper quality. That said I prefer a high gloss wood over laminate.

laminate is stronger than just a regular walnut stock right?

i kinda like the laminate better too, im just hesitant about the strength versus kevlar in the caliber im looking at.

plus im only finding the caliber i want in laminate, even though i know kevlar is an option, it isnt in stock anywhere.

i know plain walnut on these is very prone to cracking, specially the hogback models.

mosin stocks i believe were designed to be used in conjunction with thick russian clothing (for obvious reasons).

most of my 45-70 reloads kick harder and my next purchase is likely a safari rifle, so i dont really notice things like this anymore.

my shoulder is a tenderized piece of meat. at least my flinch reaction is nonexistent now.

AR-15 rebuild is "complete" (they are never really complete are they?)

The paint removal went pretty well but it still isn't back to the pure black so down the line I will probably replace the lower and upper but that is hardly a priority for now. Details on the build are:

Overall, I am really happy with the way the build turned out, really like the way everything came together and just from dry firing I can tell that the SSA-E trigger was more than worth the money.

Range toy, I have a bunch of really long shooting guns (bolt action .308, bolt action .338 Lapua, not so bolt action larger caliber) I just want one that's semi-auto, accurate to 5-600 yrds and doesn't make me wince thinking about how much money i just sent down range after a day.

i'm just not a big fan of .223 and its really nothing against the round just the lack of punishment it delivers to the shoulder.

I want to get something that i can fire a shit ton of round through to help get rid of the flinch from the bolt guns. It's not bad but its enough to jack up my aim on longer range shots.

yeah, I have a 642 (pretty much the same thing except for in SS), and I loooove it. It is so easy to just drop in my pocket and carry versus the IWB I would use for any of my semi's. I will admit, I do prefer the >5 ammo capacity that the others come with, but I carry a speed loader in my pocket half the time so I have 10rds with me at most times. I also gotta say that the draw is faster with the IWB for myself too, but not by much.


so, in conclusion, 642 (or 442) is way better convenience wise, but if I had to actually use it, I'd prefer the IWB semi auto, but not by much, enough so that I have done IWB maybe twice in the last year

I like those size revolvers but I have found I just hate pocket carry. I used to pocket carry with my Kahr PM9 (and still do some) and they are about the same size but I just use my pockets for too much other stuff.
