If you went from a phone that had nearly 1 month standby, to the standard iphone, it is huge. Being able to get back something that I can actually use for a couple of days without having to worry about charging every day is a big deal.

Actually, I have to eat some crow. According to the Apple specs, all the phones had 300 hours of standby. Which is bullshit. According to the specs, this phone has one additional hour of talk time compared to the others.

I dunno, I know they said they made the battery bigger than the one on the 3GS, but they also said they made the phone itself 24% thinner. I would have preferred the same thickness as before, and an even bigger battery. Or heaven forbid a removable one.

I was more just commenting on your statement about a replaceable battery. He goes through this whole presentation about "here's what it looks like under the hood" which you can't access, while specifically mentioning the size of the battery.

I, for one, welcome iAds as a developer. And as a user if a paid app has ads I don't download it. Thats what reviews are for.

So, from what I can see, greatly improved iphone that I'll probably be in line for to buy...

1) Serves as a good HD recorder, replacing need for flipvideo or something along those lines
2) greatly improved GPS reception is probable due to antenna setup and glass back
3) greatly improved camera
4) more talk time
5) faster processor and multitasking
6) better wifi connectivity
7) I guess I have to assume if it can record HD video, it should do video conferencing, so I'll make that big assumption now (hopefully I'm not wrong).

There's tons of mention of iChat with video conference capabilities if you go through the files of the beta 4.0 firmwares. It will be there for sure, but it is weird that it wasn't mentioned. It does seem to be something that would sell a lot of phones, I'd think.

Apps already do this. Weatherbug for iPad, for example, was $4.99 in the days before the iPad launched then after launch they dropped the price to free.

Also, depending on the ad network, fusion for example, I've purchased the desktop version of tweetie which gives you the option to disable ads but I keep them enabled because fusion has some really great products that I've only ever found out through their ad network.

its an amazing magical thing. As long as you are near a hotspot you can do video calls to someone with the same phone who is also nearby a hotspot.
