Flash to release firmware using the files, update via OTA to 4.0.2. easy enough

oh btw the swiftkey keyboard is badass. i've always hated the stock evo 3d one, mostly due to shitty laggy performance, and also for hacking up what i'm trying to say...so i'm loving the swiftkey.
i can type way faster than the stock one, and it's like a 90% accuracy rate versus 40% when typing slower on the stock one.

if you're not too creeped out you can authorize it to go through your old texts to learn how you type.

The Galaxy Nexus rocks. However, each store only received 6 of them due to a Samsung shortage. I bought the first one at Costco.

I love SwiftKey. I paid 4.99 for it with no regrets. It showed up twice for 10 cent and that was an absolute steal.

Wish I could get one. But I guess I'll wait for ICS on my Nexus S 4G instead.

I've never done the whole custom ROM/kernal deal... do 1-click methods usually come available, or is this something I'll have to invest time/learning in?

^^ with my evo 4g, it was pretty much one click. with my 3d, it doesn't appear that way. so i think it generally just takes some time after release. Are you asking for the galaxy nexus?

^ you have to link the accounts...also check settings in the FB app

The menu button isn't gone, it's just in the upper right hand corner of the app.

Look for those 3 grey squares stacked vertically... that's the new menu button.

ASUS Transformer Prime, $499 for 32GB, $599 for 64GB, released on December 19th... but most pre-orders are sold out, so good luck, possibly on shelf that week but I doubt it.

Was mainly talking about the homescreen. Now you have to go out your ass just to get to settings granted they do have a shortcut in the notification window. And the ICS menu button is app dependent. Sometimes it's at the top, bottom or even to the right of the existing soft buttons.

what do you need the menu button for on the home screen? most stuff you just drag/drop or with 2 clicks you can get to the widget screen which is the only thing i can think of as to what you'd need it for.

contradiction in the same sentence?

That still requires more effort than just hitting the menu button where your thumb is normally positioned and just choosing settings. Not a deal breaker by any means though.

Just bought a nook color last night for $116.

I almost bought a prime, then I realized I would be paying $650 for a fucking android tablet.
If the Prime was $250-300, I'd be all over it, but at $650 (for tablet+dock), it's incredibly overpriced.

You can get a helluva laptop, even a convertible touchscreen, for that kind of money. Although I guess the same argument can be said for the iPad

I do wish they'd standardize placement of the settings button in apps

its cool that devs can put it wherever but I don't like having to hunt for it per app

that and the Facebook sync are my only gripes, other than that <3

One neat feature.... I got a call from a 919 number not in my contacts.... it said "raleigh, nc" below the number. Nice to have some sort of caller I'd functionality... I hate getting calls from random area codes and being wtf?

Also, notifications I'm not totally thrilled with... I can't find the vibrate option in the new gmail... and the tones are a bit weird.

Still trying to get hand cent custom notifications to work, the custom vibrate is fucked on that too... may try goSMS again.

Still very happy with it.

Also, for those that have images on their Google profile, or set a custom image for a contact... redo it from the phone... they look like shit otherwise, too low Res. I re-did a custom one I had set... it looks really nice, now.

that's not that "CityID" app/bloatware thing they VZW usually puts on phones is it? I think (for my DX at least) it was free for like a month then they tried to charge for it

its nearly impossible to find current info on ICS and the NS4G.

the search results are clogged with stuff about non-official releases and the delayed release of the galaxy nexus.

any time now...

i'm sorry. did that come with a dock? did it come with Tegra3? is it upgradable to ICS Android 4.0? is it a 10" screen? i presume not. so comparing it to $650 prime w/ dock is completely irrelevant. i do however presume it came with a locked down version of Android 2.2 so congratulations. it's not even close to the same thing.

shit, I can get the nexus for $200 for renewing w/ vzw via amazon? may just do that...

I assume renewing via amazon doesn't affect/change anything account wise?

anyone looked at the navigation mount for the gnex? the one on vzw looks like it sits on the dash instead of suction cup on the windshield.... not sure how well that would work on a textured dash...

nvm, it does. but it doesn't seem to have a charging port... I guess it allows access to connect a charger directly to the phone... but I use customcarhome on my DX, which requires a charging port to auto-run the app... hmm

yeah, verizon decided to go cheap. There's another version out that you just plug it into the car mount itself.

Extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus is $24.99 (50% off) in-store and online (update cart after sign-in).
http://androidcommunity.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus-extended-battery-half-off-in-stores-and-online-20111216/

Definitely getting one, LTE coupled with a 4.65" screen sucks for battery life.

Adds barely any thickness and ups the battery from 1850 to 2100mAh
