nephew's tee ball game in raleigh this weekend ]]

I recently got a Pentax K-x as an early graduation present. I still have the kit lens (no money for a prime lens or anything fancy).I'm still getting used to the camera. Here is a flower on a tree that at my parents house. I had to adjust the brightness and contrast, as it came out under-exposed. It was one of the first pictures I tried taking, so I was still figuring stuff out:Here is the same tree, but a different flower. I made no adjustments to this picture, asides from making it smaller:Here is a lady bug in a tree. I have no macro lense or macro filter (or whatever they're called), so getting the camera to focus on it was difficult. I have a ton of shots with it unfocussed:Here is my dog again. I snapped this one quickly. No color adjustments were done on it:And here is a picture of just a tree. I took it today. No color adjustments on it:

eek - there's nothing wrong with a few adjustments

^ I know what you mean. I first saw it on my computer, the first thought that came to my mind was woh, which is why I thought it was worth sharing. IIRC, I think I had zoomed all the way out, and physically got close to the flower, while I set the aperture to the max (I think f3.5).

^Great shots as usual RonnyI really like #2
4/12/2010 11:06:40 PM
^ As do I. #2 is an amazing shot. And I like #1 as well.

Thanks. We got out there for our 6:30 tee time and the light was perfect, even after the sun was all but gone. It really was hard to take a bad photo. Fun times. I can also use being distracted with my camera as an excuse for my horrible game.

Since I've not posted anything in a long while, here are two shots of a cat I found today. I'm going to try to get a body shot tomorrow or the next day. Cat just showed up, really skinny and flea bitten. Has a collar, so I'm not sure if someone just put it out, or if it got out. Either way, its not doing a very good job alone.[Edited on April 13, 2010 at 7:39 PM. Reason : pics]

i currently have a t1i and these 2 lensesCanon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ISCanon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS in the market for 2 lenses - best bang for buck and would like to keep the entire purchase for both of them under $750-1000 if possible - the main reason i got the camera was because of a south africa trip coming up in june and i've taken a lot of pictures over the past few months and would like to spend some money on some better replacement lenses (although it looks like everyone has the 2 that i have so resale is useless)1 every day lens - thinking about the Canon 17-85 IS/4-5.6 IS USM1 decent telephoto lens - thinking about maybe the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM]]
4/15/2010 3:55:52 PM
For an everyday all-purpose lens I'd recommend the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 if you aren't opposed to buying outside of Canon's brand... There's good stuff out there for cheaper.
4/15/2010 11:58:58 PM
^^You're not going to notice much of a difference at all between the 250mm IS you have right now and the 300mm IS you're considering. From what I recall from briefly using the 55-250mm IS it was a very decent lens for the money, and quick to focus for a non-USM lens. I would recommend getting only 1 lens and staying on the lower end of your budget. I'd ditch your kit lens and get a Canon 17-40mm f/4L ($750). If you wanted to get a telephoto, too, and overextend your budget, spring for the Canon 70-200mm f/4L ($640). Just my $.02

One of my biggest qualms with the 17-85 (might be why I don't shoot with it much) is that it just feels cheap. Just holding the camera down, and the barrel extends all the way out on its own. Has done this on several of these lenses I've messed with.Other than that, it's a decent lens.I can vouch for the awesomeness of the 70-200 F/4L.
4/16/2010 11:04:00 AM
I, personally, am holding out for the 70-200 f/2.8L That will be my next lens.^^^ Actually, I have the same lens without vibration control (VC). It's my everyday lens and I'd definitely recommend it as a quality product. Build is solid, it's fast, and focuses very accurately.http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Tamron-17-50mm-f-2.8-XR-Di-II-Lens-Review.aspx

70-200 2.8 gives me a boner.I've got my sights set a bit lower, for now. I am just trying to get rid of my 50 1.8 and get a 50 1.4.Anyone wanna snag a 50 1.8 (great condition, still have the box) with circular polarizer?

Anyone doing anything with off camera flash. I just got some flashes and radio triggers, now I just need time to play. Oh yeah and light stands and all the other modifiers to go with them.

I really like this pic, but it badly needs some colors that jump off the page. Maybe you could take down the brightness and up the contrast in Photoshop and it would look better. The other two are really meh stuff that everybody takes when they are starting out.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 7:10 PM. Reason : l][Edited on April 19, 2010 at 7:13 PM. Reason : l]

Any ideas on where to pick up the Tokina 11-16? Doesn't matter if it's used. I can't find it anywhere...reputable.
4/21/2010 10:54:48 AM
http://www.flickr.com/photos/unincbrtn/4541957597/I ended up cropping a decent amount of it out, due to the shittiness of HDR without a tripod
4/21/2010 11:54:36 PM
^^ I got mine locally from Peace. Maybe give them a call and see if they've got one in stock. (I can't remember if you're in the Raleigh area or not.) I did see most places are out of stock. I wonder why.^ Why HDR? Any reason, or is that just your thing?]
4/22/2010 12:14:23 AM
hdr handheld?

^^Yeah, I'm in Raleigh. It seems like it's the Canon mount that's really hard to find. Nikon's are everywhere. Also, wanted to share a link to this AWESOME!!!!1! professional photographer I found on the net.http://boggsphotos.zenfolio.comAmazing work, there.
