ohmy,

go download the client punkbuster update. when punkbuster doesn't update itself, it sits there when you click join and teases you. Your console will actually open, so you don't have to physically reboot the machine.

I had this problem.

killing every service and background process really really helps ive noticed



i wish you could boot XP into a "game mode" where it wont launch ANY non-essential processes or services



changing all that and changing it back takes a rediculous amount of time

Maugan, I went to punkbusters site and dled the client update file. didnt work. then i tried their PBweb.exe program which updates everything for me. still didnt work. Thanks for the suggestion tho. any other ideas?

The only reservations I have about joining a clan is the time commitment. There are times when I cant play for days at a time, and thats just not fair to the clanmates.

Yeah, that's the same problem I had in T2. It became a much bigger commitment than I could balance.

Also, I'd join the clan as a backup, but if you've never played a BF match they take for freakin' ever. By the time everyone finally joins the server and the match starts, it lasts like 2.5 - 3 hours.

FYI,

All community stat tracking sites have been BLOCKED.

Meaning EA didn't realize that it would cause the game experience to degrade and now have to whip up some miracle shit that will make everyone happy, but will in the end fail miserably.



Looks like their stats server is fucked as well.

I've been pretty busy - nearing end of the summer semester here.. but I'm down for forming a clan. I can't promise any huge time commitments but if we are looking to just have a group of people to play with often so we don't have to deal with pubs.. and can actually try tactics, etc.. then I'm down.

I might can grab some of the old AA crew as well if we get enough together to make it fun. Most of them love the game - but hate dealing with the immense amount of idiots in the game.

I have found that people who play on the non-ranked servers aren't really that great. I played the non-ranked ones for a while and started getting 1st place all the time. When I started playing the ranked ones, I would be in the middle somewhere and occasionally in the top 5.

Like I said I can set up a Ventrilo server on my wife's computer. I had it set up in the past and it worked ok for up to 6 people (the free server version won't support more than 6). The problems are: 1) on a standard cable connection, don't know how it would hold up with me gaming plus 5 other people in there, 2) reliability - if the power flickers or my IP changes, it won't work until I can get back to fix it.

Best thing to do would be for us to all chip in a couple dollars to get our on server hosted. You can get a 20 person server for 3 months for $18. That should be plenty to handle all of us and then some.

I honestly think we'd be fine with a 10 person server. I'm willing to front the $9 myself for a 10 person for 3 months if you guys will actually use it. It seems like we have a lot of interest in playing together so I think it would get used. Lemme know how many of you would actually join the server and use it regularly and if there are enough I'll rent one this week.

I cant stand servers that have one round last for 3 minutes, then have a map change, and then you wait 6 minutes to load the next map.

OH YEA, anyone else having trouble binding keys. I tried re-binding duck to "f" and it says its bound but when I press f nothing happens. I think I need to format

This is a FREE BF2 tourney that just went live today. We have dedicated servers for playing, access to ranked servers, a huge TeamSpeak server for voice comms, and weekly battles between three armies.

I have been working with 5 other guys on getting this up and running. We were vets of the NapalmDawn tourney for BFV for four campaigns and decided that with BF2, if you want a good tourney, you have to do it yourself. We already have around 50 people in each army (US, China, MEC) and will start scrims this weekend.

Did I mention this is FREE? EA has partnered with another tourney, but will be charging $30 per campaign.

assualt's kit's rocker launcher is very very very useful. takes out cars and buggys, takes out multiple people, can help kill tanks in teams

i always play assualt -- in close ranges, it kills very fast. ive found, that if youre 40 yards from someone and they dont see you, people dont really look around and you can just run up to right behind them. for fun i like to watch them turn around and see me for just two seconds and panic-- then i spray their head with bullets

and about the vent server... I'm still nosing around to find one we can just use while interest is built - I might say setup the 6man server to see how active everyone is first and determine if we need to pay anything or not
