how does McBride come in, and on 7 pitches, take out Ortiz and Manny.........and then walk 2 straight and give up a liner for a single to Fucking CoCo Crisp??? God our bullpen sucks. If i was a starting pitcher and i had a lead, i would never come out of the game.

As I was watching last night's game, I just knew McFuckup was going to blow the shit out of that lead. I honestly think the Braves have just turned into the Royals. Since I live in Kansas, I see a bunch of Royals games and even in games which they should win you can always just tell that a loss is about to happen. It is kind of like when State plays UNC in football.

^ I used to live in Kansas City (last year).

I never knew what it felt like to look up to the Nationals, Marlins, Phillies, and Mets... it sucks being 14 games behind...

100 loss year anyone?

Can anyone give me one reason why we have Jore Sosa starting at 1-9. WE have got to have someone in the organization who can have a better record them him.

2-0 already with men on and sosa is folding fast as usual.

Smoltz is one of the few on the team I do not want to see leave

yeah they had him talking about that during the sox series, he seems perfectly fine with the fact that he could be traded

francouer just shot a cannon out of right field to nail to the runner at the plate, still 6-5 jays though

I would be pissed if we traded Smoltz. We need to send 90% of our bullpen down to minor league ball and trade saltlajsdlfkajs and some others for nothing but relievers.. i dont think ive ever seen us play this bad

A long year, sad year could get a lot longer and a lot sadder if we end up trading him.

I honestly dont think Shuerholtz(sp?) is stupid enough to trade him unless he asks to be traded. He's one of the only reasons people still go to the games is because he's been with us for so long.. he's the face of the Braves in my opinion

Well, lets look at the business side of it. Smoltz rakes in a good 15 - 20m a year. If we traded him (and Scheurholtz and staff have been known to make fantastic trades of verteran players towards the end of their productivity) that frees up a good 4 - 5 Dontrelle Willis'. Right now, with the shape of our starting rotation and relief, we surely could use 4 - 5 Dontrelle Willis'. I love John Smoltz, he's the last of the great Atlanta Pitching days to still be around... but I think it's time for a new era. We have got to fill the holes...

^ Actually Smoltz makes $8 million a year and the club has an option for $8 million in 2007. Considering what the Yanks and Mess are paying players on the open market like Farnsworth, Smoltz is quite a bargin and I think the Braves would be pretty damn stupid to trade him before getting rid of other guys like Giles or Renteria. Its not like we have a bunch of SPs who can step in for him, where as with Giles or Renteria, we have Betemit who can play right away.

Get outta here. The Mets have the 6th highest payroll in baseball. It's less then it has been at any time in the last 5 years!

But yeah I'd exercise the $8M option just like I hope the Mets exercise Glavine's new '07 option. There is something to be said about consistency from a pitcher and you can't put a price tag on that in the day and age of paying players like Pavano and Burnett 10M+ to sit on the DL..

^ Don't try and tell me that the Mets aren't one of the teams driving the price of FAs through the roof. They basically go after every damn FA, which gives those player's agents leverage to get bigger deals. Fuck they have signed Pedro, Beltran, Delgado, Wagner, Glavine, etc all in the past few years. They are part of the problem with rising salaries.

get rid of chipper and giles before smoltz, get cabrera and put betemit in the lineup everyday

pick up some pitchers with the money you save and boom, you've got a team that won't lose 21 of 26

Chuck James looked great last night. Granted it was against the D-Rays, but any lefty that can get some outs is a plus. Also Sosa had a save and win over the weekend so hopefully he'll flourish in the closer role.

The rumors keep swirling about Smoltz which is scaring me.. i thought he was just misquoted at first but Im beginning to wonder if we really are thinking of trading him. Steve Phillips said we should trade him to the Tigers(because they're in the playoff race and he is from Michigan) for their closer Zumaya and im sure some other players

I really doubt Smoltz will be traded, but if the Tigers really were going to give up a guy like Zumaya and maybe another good young arm, I think the Braves should consider it. This season is lost and next season will be too if we don't find some arms to stick in the pen. Plus Smoltz is likely done after next year anyway. A trade to the Tigers would atleast give him another go at the playoffs.

Good win last night, really needed it. Hope we can get another one this afternoon, baby steps....

On another note, 20 loses in June. The Braves haven't lost 20 games in June since 1952, when they were in Boston..

I think smotlz should go. He's getting old and while he still has 97mph on his heater, his time is limited. He's the last of the old Braves pitching dynasty. I think we have to start looking for that young tom glavine and young greg maddux again.

good win. I'll take it. Ramirez looked good.

well here we go... francoeur on in the 9th...

we need to win... we need to go like 45 of 47 to finish the season to get the NL East

And why is Giles batting 1st with a .235 average? And why is Laroche sill on the team? Have we killed Rietsma yet? I think he was worse than Kolb, and that's saying a hell of a lot.
