At 1:01am, they are complaining because the Chinese got away.......at 12:59, 2 minutes ago. Where are they? Oh, I don't know, maybe driving through the desert? (9:11:01 PM): that you have two main charcters that are fighters

(9:11:25 PM): you have bauer defending CTU from the inside from the chinese attackers
(9:11:34 PM): and you have that other guy going after the chip
(9:11:56 PM): so, basically a reason for bauer to go ape shit while still being under arrest

I was a little surprised the Chinese were going for little Bauer and not somebody like Morris for the chip, but I also was expecting the Dad to come back into the story, just not like this

i love how Doyle made it a point to say that all of the field agents are going to be out looking for the chinese. hmmm, i wonder what will happen to CTU with all of the bad asses gone?

so let me see if I got this straight:

1. Jack's dad and brother help Gridenko acquire the suitcase nukes from Russia.
2. Jack gets traded (for something) back to America to trade for the suitcase nukes to Abu
3. Jack finds out his brother/dad had something to do with the nukes and confronts them.
4. Jack's dad then sets him up with Logan to get the Russian consulate (presumable so that Jack could get control of the suitcase nukes).
5. Jack invades the consulate, gets the location of Gridenko and acquires the suitcase nukes.
6. Chang calls Jack and says he'll trade Audrey for the component.
7. Jack steals the component and gets Audrey back, Chang gets the component.
8. The component is busted and the Chinese now need a security code, but instead they hijack CTU to get Jack's nephew.
9. We find out that Jack's dad wants his grandson back and is going to China.

A simpler plan of thought would have been to:
1. Jack's dad just give the component to Chang directly (instead of going through Jack).
2. Kidnap Cody when he left CTU or before this whole shit happened.

just shitty fucking writing with all that stuff. i've been annoyed by pretty much every white house scene in this season. it's like they are trying to phase jack out of the episodes almost to see if it affects the ratings as a way of deciding whether or not to kill him off.

i think if they're going to kill him, it needs to be a series finale situation. i think that would be the effect whether they planned it or not though because i'd stop watching if they killed him and i'm sure many others would too.
