How do you tell the difference beteen someone losing 25% of their concentration and 27%, just by watching them play football on tv?

It is an interesting counter comparison and I would not hesitate to admit I was off by one.

"Carolina Panthers coach John Fox named Vinny Testaverde as his starting quarterback Sunday at Green Bay following today's practice. But it's possible that Testaverde might not have Carolina's top wide receiver to throw to.

Steve Smith missed his third straight practice with a sore shin. He was listed as questionable on the team injury report.

"It'll be a game-time decision, day to day," coach John Fox said of Smith. "It's still sore.""

made a nigga lol

Quote :
" Either Panthers quarterback David Carr has a wry sense of humor that led him to joke about how much the fans hate him after his terrible performance yesterday, or he's incredibly clueless.

Carr started the Panthers' 31-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints in place of the injured Vinny Testaverde, and he had another awful game, completing 10 of 22 passes for 95 yards, with two interceptions. After the game, Carr was asked about the home crowd's reaction.

"It's not like we were purposely trying to not score points," Carr said. "They were chanting 'More' -- that they wanted more points. And we were trying to give it to them."

Um, David? They weren't chanting "More." They were chanting "Moore," as in Matt Moore, the rookie third-string quarterback who came into the game after your coach, John Fox, finally benched you.

We'd like to give Carr the benefit of the doubt and say he was trying to be funny, but that's probably not the case. It's probably just that Carr is as bad at interpreting the fans' cheers as he is at playing quarterback. "

We're giving three to San Fran this week

You realize we A) haven't won a home game in over a year and B) couldn't score a TD off the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs right now

now we have Vinny and Carr

We've never been this bad since the 1-15 year

I would bet on SF even if they were favored instead of 3 point dogs

The Panthers 4 wins have no relevence on how they're playing now

I'll watch the Dolphins play tonight, then decide whether they or the Panthers are the worst team in the NFL

if you're not gonna make the playoffs in the NFL, might as well tank all the games so you can get a high draft pick next year.

No, high draft picks in the NFL are bad, they get a shitload of money and take up cap space. We're much better off playing out the string and and finishing with a pick in the 8-12 range.

I agree, I don't want too high a draft pick i.e. 1-5, but after that I think we can save some money/expense and pick up decent players. How many picks in the first 2 rounds do we have?

I don't think we have any extra picks so unless we make a trade between now and the draft we have one pick in each round

Panthers are fucked for the forseeable future.

According to this link, their cap situation is worse than any team except Washington, based on available money and the number of players signed.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200.../week14/4.html

Might as well dismantle and build for the future starting this offseason.

Which is why you hear so much negative talk surrounding Marty Hurney and John Fox. They built this team, which blows. Though I will say having a semi-competent quarterback would help this team LOADS. There were games that Carr or Vinny played in that Jake would've fared much better. Games that Carr started especially. The offensive playcalling (SF the exception) has been absolutely atrocious for a team that claimed it had so much in the bag in the preseason. Jeff Davidson has been an absolute wreck. That and the team just looks sullen 80% of the time. I really can't understand any of it, except maybe Fox just has lost hold of his guys, which two years ago, I said could've never happened.

see, this is the kind of thinking that got the Pats Randy Moss for next to nothing. You've got to take the QB into context when you judge a receiver. Any receiver who goes from a decent QB to a terrible QB is going to get frustrated and drop off in production. What I'm shocked about is that Steve hasn't flipped out in a press conference or punched out David Carr in the locker room.

btw, check out the numbers with Jake:
16 grabs, 281 yards, 4 TDs in the first 3 games.

Anybody that is saying Smith has slowed down is retarded. He's the only option on a team that can hardly run the ball, and sure as hell can't pass. When Delhomme gets back (or any other competent QB) Smith will be fine.

And saying Davidson is to blame for most of the offensive problems is equally as stupid. When you don't have a QB who can hit a wide open receiver, it's tough to call much of anything.

I will throw some of the blame of Trgovac though. I don't know how you assemble a defense like we've got, and get the results that we see each week. Aside from Beason and Lucas, there's absolutely no one that looks like they give a damn. Some of that falls on Fox, but I blame more of it on Trgovac.

the regression of Peppers is one of the most overlooked disappointments of the season. He's been terrible, and that's with semi-decent years from Damione Lewis(1st in sacks) and Mike Rucker(2nd in TFL behind Thomas Davis)

no one is saying he's the cause of the problems...it's just funny to hear fox and everyone say "the playbook is opened up" or "all the plays are out there" when it looks like your run of the mill average play calling going on. if you've got a decent run game, you don't need prolific passing. we have two average at best RBs and we're trying to pound the ball...does not compute.

I thought he slowed down based on his first three games, his stats definately didnt slow down but he did,
he dropped more balls and I saw many plays where he wasnt able to come up with the catch when he normally would have,
im not basing my opinion on how he did after delhomme went down, this talk was going on even in preseason.

anyways this is the sad reality of players getting old, peppers and smith are on the decline for the same reason, we need to start to get people who will replace them instead of constantly looking for them to save the team.
