Look dick, I never claimed to be the one in there scoping Glenn's fucking knee nd giving a report on it. Yahoo is the last place I get my info from, and I can assure you that I didnt get this from there. Trust me on that one. I knew Glenn was out for at least 2 weeks LONG before Yahoo posted it (maybe not before they knew, but def. before they posted it).

The reason why I put those things on there is not to make it look like I wrote it, its so ungrateful jerks like you can can get the info before your league members do (who are likely checking Yahoo) and pick up the player that will benefit, like Patrick Crayton in this case.

I tell ya, Manning paid off for me last night. I took him with the 6th overall pick in the draft because our league has nice scoring rules for QBs (10 yards = 1 pt and TDs for QBs are also 6). The defensive scoring has been adjusted down in my league this year, so QBs are really where the money is, and I hit paydirt. The average predicted point totals for my league is right around 105-110 this week, and I just racked up 46 points without anyone else stepping foot on the field.

Extra...I also took the Indy defense as a number 2 D with my last pick in the draft. Everyone thought I was an idiot. It's not looking like such a bad idea now.

^Yeah, but passing TDs for QBs only counts as 4 instead of 6 points. That's the trade-off.

It's not an even trade off, though. A QB is much more likely to get yards than to get TDs.

Anyone have more news about Jacoby Jones becoming #2 in Houston? Will it happen this week, next, etc?

I don't know for sure, but my guess is as soon as he looks like he did in the preseason, but in a regular season game

Kevin Walter is just an average slot receiver really, so it's up to Jacoby to keep performing

hmmmm. I'm looking at jones because i'm desperate. I would take any of the guys you already have over Jacoby Jones.

start 3:

Stallworth @ NYJ
Derrick Mason @ cin
Malcolm Floyd vs chi
Crayton vs nyg
M. Lynch vs denver
Dunn @ minn

We get points per reception and points for return yards. That might make guys like Lynch, Crayton, Mason more attractive (who otherwise would not get TDs)

Yeah I've been looking at Jacoby Jones too, he was awesome in the preseason, but I already have Andre Johnson, don't really want to put all my eggs in Matt Schaub's basket, haha. But playing opposite of AJ will really help him to take up the double-teams.

Trying to pick a TE to start, 1 bad match-up and 2 good match-ups.

Gates vs. Chi - good LB crew, but could get looks near the endzone
V. Davis vs. Ari - really good match-up(Current Starter)
T. Gonzalez vs. Hou - good match-up but will Huard get that offense rolling?

Even if he has a w/t spot, he should trade a TE to someone for a WR

Autodraft league, 10 teams, and it decides that I need a bunch of TE's, haha.

I was using Tony G as trade bait but all anyone wanted to talk about was Gates, haha. I think after week 1 and their TE's get nadda in points they'll come looking for some help, haha.

the more i see, the better i feel about crayton. he seems to be one of the best WR2 options around, and with a QB who likes to wing it, i think he'll be big. i don't like teams that split their reception numbers, so my other three wideouts are basically the only guys on their squad (evans, driver, and galloway) who will get the real looks.

i couldn't get a 4th who was only a primary, and i just picked up crayton to fill that role. i'm looking forward to his numbers this week.

I'm reading some stuff on Yahoo, and this made me laugh...

Quote :
"Approximately 71 percent of the Earth is covered by water. The other 29 percent is covered by … well, it's definitely not covered by Jason David.

Nothing, apparently, is covered by Jason David. If you're facing Reggie Wayne in a fantasy league this week, you already knew this.

^5 I would probably start Gates every week too, but if you were ever going to bench him, this would be the week against the Bears

Don't be afraid to trade Gates either, if you're going to get a stud for him, someone you couldn't have gotten with the pick you used on Gates. When Todd Heap (doing Chunky Soup commercials this year) gets hurt, for instance, his owner may be desperate.

I wouldn't worry about Huard, he ran the offense well last year. Wait until the Chiefs decide to go with Croyle to worry.

^^^^Getting Lynch for Stallworth would be a steal, even in a PPR league. Good luck with that.

^^^Me too, I've thought Crayton was going to really well if he got playing time and stays healthy, here's his chance to prove me right or make me look foolish

Don't you know that the weakness of the cover 2 defense that the Bears employ is that it's soft over the middle?

Gates will have a big day tomorrow

^don't you know that the Bears were the best defense in the league against tight ends last year?

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef.php

if you don't trust those numbers, they gave up just 3 TDs last year to tight ends, held Shockey (66 recs) and McMichael (62 recs) to 1 catch each

^oh I know, no TE in the league can hold his jock yet. But what I am trying to say is that no one's defense could hold the Bears jock when it came to defending TE's last year. I did say that I would probably start Gates anyway, but I also stand by my statement that if you were ever going to bench him, it would be this week.

i'm just a firm believer in the fantasy strategy that if you have THE best player at a position, ie Gates, Manning, Ladainian...you play them 16 weeks

but i also believe when you bench a star, he'll do well...when you play him, he'll suck...lol

^^I'm not going to call you a dumbass, but I want to make it clear that I would start Gates

In case my "if you were ever going to bench Gates.." may have swayed you at all, it was just a hypothetical

Reasoning: It depends on your league settings, but I have Gates scoring 130% as much as the 2nd best TE. As far as WR and TE go, even against the best defenses you wouldn't expect less than about 90% of their normal production. I am not pulling these numbers out of my ass I promise.

pick two:

mark claton (@ cinci), andre johnson (vs. KC), j-cotch (vs NE), matt jones (vs TENN).

With Claton's injury, it's a bit of a toss up.

not getting many reports saying he'll be in limited action, but he had a light practice schedule... if that's to be geared up for the game, or that's b/c that was all he could do, I can't tell.

im leaning towards claton and johnson

I'm feeling Stallworth this week.

Crayton may be a good start as the season goes on, but in the preseason, Brady and Stallworth seemed to have a really good chemistry.

I'd go with Stallworth.

With the Giants allowing 200+ yards in passing a game, I went ahead and picked up Crayton and am starting him instead of DJ Hackett due to his shared playing time... let's hope it pays off.
