Holy sacface we have DJ Hackett???

Our receiving corps just went from bad to awesome with the additions of Hackett, Muhsin, and Taylor.

RB should be a position of strength. If Delhomme is healthy and our oline performs at all we could easily be a top 5 offense this year.

whole heartedly disaree with the reggie bush comments.

he has this year to prove he's not a bust. other than that, people are starting to eat crow about mario being drafted ahead of him.

lol i'd put pittsburgh in the top 5 before new orleans, and yes i'm a homer, but cmon.

parker/mendenhall is going to be a nice tandem. sweed will probably make an impact towards the end of the year as well, and i think holmes will have a breakout season if he stays healthy.

Have you read anything I've ever written about Reggie Bush? I questioned how well his game would translate in the NFL and still question it today. Homer, my ass. The comment I replied to was more homer than just about anything I've ever said about the Saints here. You act like we haven't been a top 5 offense in both seasons since Sean Payton became head coach.

What are we talking about when judging top 5 offenses? Points scored or yards per game?

When talking about points scored, New Orleans didn't even finish in the top 10 last year. Sure, they threw for a billion yards, but who cares when Brees is throwing all those picks in the red zone?

And I really doubt that Pittsburgh finishes with a top 5 offense next year. They are just not an explosive team on O (or at least they haven't been one in recent history).

New England, Indy, Dallas and San Diego have to be considered the top 4 offenses coming into this season. After that it really is a crapshoot.

I'd like to err on the side of the Panthers on this one. Assuming Jake is healthy, if not better than 2006 Jake. Adding Hackett and Moose only take the pressure off of Smith. And I am completely convinced that LoLo will have a break out year, and J. Stewart will only solidify the running game. I am somewhat concerned about TE and FB, but I think with all of the other threats they won't be as necessary.

Kicking should be on par as usual.

Much like in years past, the Panthers fortunes reside on the play of their offensive and defensive lines.

Lets hope we don't see a bunch of season-ending injuries to key players this year. The Panthers have had some awful luck with the injury bug.

this year, we have pretty good depth at most positions....There are always gonna be injuries, but we look like we're prepared to some degree. I think fox/hurney made it a point pick up solid backups this off season, since the injury excuse isn't gonna fly again if we have another losing season.

Just like any team, if our stars go down, look for a free fall. I think we're ok as long as Peppers, Gross, Delhomme, and Smith stay healthy. Any other position, and you can plug a capable backup in and get by (the exception being safety, where everyone sucks for the most part).

They were 8th in both scoring and YPG last year. Nothing special. Hell, Arizona scored more points than they did.

Yeah, I agree. They were sick at times last year. Hell, I had D. Anderson and J. Lewis on my fantasy team. However, here were the teams ahead of them in scoring:

1. New England
2. Dallas
3. Indy
4. Green Bay
5. San Diego
6. Jax
7. Arizona

Expect Green Bay to drop off significantly without Favre. Jax may be a top 5 offense this year just because they can run seemingly at will, and Garrard played like a pro-bowler last year. If the Browns pick up where they left off last year, they could make the jump into the top 5 as well.

Imo, Smitty and Delhomme are the only losses that would be devastating (but I did like what I saw from Moore last year). Peppers might as well have been out all year last year, and our D was still serviceable, and if gross goes down they'll move wharton to T (he might not be the best T, but he can get the job done).

I think we're looking pretty good at S this year too.

They have been just as successful as the Panthers over the last few years.....

Maybe he just didn't want to kill himself with his 1000th concussion?

2003 NFC CHAMPS!!!!!

Actually, I heard Morgan saw a leprechaun in his bed one day that told him the pot of gold was hidden in the Superdome. After spending 4 weeks looking under every seat in that place he realized the leprechaun was a hallucination from the concussion he sustained the previous night from tuirning the AC in his car on 'Hi'. Thats why he signed with the Shaints

Surprisingly good AP article on Morgan's retirement.

I always liked the guy, and I'm glad he's finally walking away from football. Still, it can't be easy when it's all you've ever known.

I like hearing that Jake is running the offense and throwing the ball. I believe will play well and the offense will excel b/c of of a legitimate passing threat with receivers who can hold on to the ball and know how to run a correct route/adjust to defense/read the defense.

This should open up the run game and allow the offense to prosper (hope the O-line stays healthy of course).

I am pretty tired of hearing people blame JD on the offensive/team failures. By the way, what is the word on the Offensive strategy/play calling this year? I know there are people in here that really keep up with every move in the Panthers office and know every decision being made.

foxy said they were going back to thier roots...a power running game that sets up the pass, no more passing on 3rd and short. However, I'm anxious to see how this works with davidson and his zone blocking scheme.

very good summary of current roster status

http://www.bleacherreport.com/articles/26788--Carolina-Panthers-Changes-Could-Jason-Taylor-Become-A-Carolina-Panther

wish it covered the o line free agent acquisitions better (as i think we got a steal in fonoti), but a solid article either way.

If we could get him for something like Jarett and a late round pick it'd be a good pick up imo. But definitely can't give what the dolphins are wanting for him.

I see no problem in Jason dancing. If we can get Jason for a decent price, I say bring him aboard. Great athlete, talent, ability, and character. Taking some time to live his life does not bother me with his decision to dance. One time out of how many years in the NFL? Puh-lease...Now if it actually cut into the Official training camp &/or season then I would think he was foolish. But he did it during his off season. I bet his footwork got even better from dancing...

he's definitely been a great player but i dont want him...i think we need to go ahead and get Brayton or McClover or Charles Johnson going towards our DE(s) of the future...plus we already picked our 1st round pick for next year a year early, so i think we'd have to give up too much for a player for 1 year...although if we get him and win a Super Bowl I won't complain!

He, Jason, would be a FA after one year right? Would it be too far-fetched that he would come back to Panthers for a few more years. I know most players are money driven and looking to be highest paid over being with best team to win (or best chance for success), but I think JT would likely come back after a year end his career with us.

Maybe I am just trying to be Optimistic, but he does not seem to be the type to go one year for a paycheck and bounce...but that is just me.
