follow the diet plan, particularly for phase one and you'll probably see the results you want. Diet is equally, if not more important than the working out part if you're looking to lose or add weight (especially in the form of body fat).

My trick is actually eating enough food, mainly protein. Going from 2 to 3 meals plus snacks a day is tougher to keep up with than I thought.

I got a set with three different colors up to 40lbs when you put them together. It was cheaper that way.

Let's see how Plyo goes tomorrow!

Just finished Day 1. Absolutely killed me. At the end, I spent 10 minutes sitting around and making sure I wouldn't vomit.

Just because I saw the comment a few ^s.

Diet is the only factor in body fat loss and weight loss. You can maybe make very marginal improvements through physical activity. Most people could probably sit around, increase calories while eating the right things at the right times and drop weight.

^^^ yup. applying even just a little bit of nutritional knowledge will get twice the results with the same or less effort/amount of time. Tailoring your diet to your fitness/body goals is a game changer.

I think you can definitely lose "weight" by simply increasing exercise (calories burned). But if you really want to target body fat and not lose muscle mass, you need to change your diet to accommodate that goal.

So, I actually had no clue that p90x was an infomercial much less the most successful infomercial out there. So I watched some of it see and I have to say that I would be highly disinclined to get into this program from seeing their pitch. It was waaay too gimmick sounding and the "If you call within the next 5 minutes (red alert sound included) we'll throw in a free hooker (just add $19.99 S&H)!!!1" was as annoying as it is with infomercials just peddling garbage. Saying "You can get THESE results *insert copious amounts of people most of who my be ripped now but are just as ugly as their before picture* without ever stepping into a gym!" sounds too fake even though for the most part it is true.

Oh well. Plyo tomorrow!

I feel it today.

P90x definitely seems like a great workout. With that said, if you eat well for 90 days and workout that hard for 90 days, you're going to be in good shape no matter what, haha. It's just nice to have structure and to follow something that's proven. And it forces you to go hard and not have much time in between reps.

I know that some people find him annoying but I actually find him very entertaining. His goofy personality helps lighten the tension during a hard set and makes sure you breathe when you laugh. I guess I can also relate to his silly personality. His constant flirting with Drea is hilarious. Get 'em dawg!

Worked my ass arms and abs off today.

Ok, I'll bite. What do you start eating to target body fat? Not interested in a full on google research, that's why I'm posting this question here.

lol, his hair never moves, kinda like former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson.

woke up this am, was NOT at all motivated for today's workout, chest & back. Took me a little bit more warm up time to motivate myself to work it hard today.

feelin good now though!

Think I'm gonna add some running in the afternoons on MWF

anyone have any tips on where to attach a resistance band to get the same effect as a pullup? The top of a door doesn't seem like it can achieve the same angle.

^ I have mine attached to my pull up bar. (suffice to say my bands don't get much use anymore)

^^ Two friends of mine recommended that I use something called NO-Xplode on my lifting and plyo days. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bsn/xplode.html It doesn't use caffeine nor sugar just a boatload of different vitamins. The first time I took it was the tolerance tester so after two scoops and about 30mins I felt like hypnotoad! But it's totally worth it and not all that expensive. I've had days too where I've felt tired or unmotivated and NO-Xplode got me going!

ok, so I'm getting the dvds soon and will probably start in a week or 2(haven't worked out in about 2 months btw). Can I get away with just using bands for this?

I'm looking at something off here(recommendations welcomed):
http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1280164354/ref=sr_pg_1?ie=UTF8&keywords=SPRI&rh=n:3375251,n:!3375301,k:SPRI&page=1

Also, should I get a pull up bar? do they cause damage to the door/wall?

my pull-up bar has left some black marks and small indentations. but it's nothing some paint won't cover up. and if i'm really worried about the indentations, which I'm not, that could be fixed easily enough.

I'm also interested in starting this up. What's the best way to obtain the set? ebay? I'm not a fan of torrents. I'm also interested in what else I'll need (^^^ similar question to the pull up bar).

^ I got mine off Amazon for around $90, but it included pdfs of all the reading material. There are better deals than $90 for just the DVDs, but you'll want the reading material too if you really get into the workouts and diets.

And yes you'll need a pull bar, dumbbells and/or bands. Bands are probably the way to go starting out, but you'll want to go to dumbbells eventually. I also have a floor mat and a heart rate watch to make sure I am pushing myself. If you have carpet, you may not need the floor mat although I HIGHLY recommend it.

Week 2 starts today. I'm still sore, but I'm ready to go. I have this little kink in my upper right arm/shoulder that I'm worried could lead to a bigger problem, but I'm going through with today (chest/back) anyway.

You can use the bands for any exercise they do with free weights (dumbbells). Some of the motions are different, but they show you how to do them in the video.

I found online if my band is strong enough I can use it in replace of the pull-up bar... so if I got the blue SPRI band, will this be enough?

Nevermind, I found a P90X thing explaning what to do with the bands without a chin-up bar.. yay.

The real problem is, I can't afford one until like September due to all my money going into moving. :\

Maybe. I've never used the bands. You should definitely tighten up on the bands to give you more resistance if it isn't tough enough.
