umm i don't really know that is kind of a broad question. but i guess i'd like to see NC (if not the U.S.) abolish the death penalty. for more than just humanitarian reasons. i'm not sure if it is something the u.s. supreme court should rule on, but i'd argue that it could be....under 8th/5th/14th amendments.

I like the death penalty, not because of any bullshit deterrent effect, but because if it were used the way I think it should be it would eliminate the worst people from society at a considerably cheaper cost than life in prison. Sadly this is not currently the case, which is the strongest argument for elimination the death penalty.

^^^ i don't know. i don't think you can make any laws restricting people's freedom to eat themselves into oblivion. there really isn't a way to fix it without discriminating against obese people. which you'd think would be a good thing---maybe it would motivate them to get healthy but no, that'd be too easy.

^^, ^ well unfortunately (or fortunately) you can't be a champion for liberty and freedom and democracy and the constitution and blah blah and want the death penalty to have a more immediate effect. i mean NC has exonerated like what 5 or 6 people in the past year or so (and that is just NC alone)?? the whole premise of our system is that we'd rather see 10 guilty people go free than incarcerate 1 innocent person. i think that standard only becomes heightened when you're talking about death as a punishment. i mean the lengthy, expensive, appeals process is part of a constitutional safeguard for rights and freedom and all the things we claim our country stands for. i mean sure, it sucks, the system is arguably broken, but i don't think you can start picking and choosing when you want to uphold our democratic ideals. i also think it is sort of ridic that we are one of the few westernized countries that still has a death penalty. i mean these countries that we look down upon for being "backwards" and "inhumane"---well, we're right there with them when it comes to capital punishment (though we don't take people out back and shoot them or hang them anymore....how kind of us).

and i disagree that it eliminates the worst people from society. it is applied unevenly so, some of the sickest criminals just get to chill in jail for the rest of their lives. while the guy who robbed a convenience store without intending to kill anyone but panicked and shot the clerk gets executed. i also think every life is worth something. and people aren't born inherently evil. society is partially to blame for crime (if not completely to blame, since crime is often tied to socioeconomic status). and if you believe in god, i don't think you should want to play god. and if you don't, then i still think it is stupid to attempt to stop killing with additional, completely arbitrary killing. if you are going to kill, make it for a cause. and since the death penalty really provides nothing more than potential closure or satisfaction for the family (which doesn't often happen), i don't think it should continue to be implemented.

i guess you could do away with the appeals process. but like i said, then you are venturing into the realm of choosing when we want to put liberty and freedom and our constitutional ideals first and when we can just waive them (for other people, i might add). in an already broken system, i think we should leave the few safeguards we have in place alone.

but thats just me. and that is all i will say on it

why are there so much competition with female sanitary products, to me it seems like it's a pretty simple thing and any tampon or pad would do, yet I see a kotex or playtex ad like five times a day

well there's competition for everything! but kotex makes pads (primarily i think) and playtex is known for tampons. but playtex also makes a lot of baby stuff, too. like bottles and nipples for bottles, etc etc.

^ yea it is ok if you go when it isn't crowded. i had fun because i like to go and look at the exhibits and eat and people watch and ride a couple of rides, etc. but i hate when it is crowded so you have to go when it isn't.

^ the zipper. its not that it is twisty and turny although i don't LOVE that sick stomach feeling--that isn't what bothers me. and i'm not scurred of heights. i hate that fair rides can be put up and taken down in like a day. the fact that they are mobile kind of freaks me out. plus the zipper (if you know what it is) is like REALLY old. i swear nuts and bolts were probably flying off of it as we flipped around and around.

this thing. except it looked older and way scarier and we were 2 of like 4 people riding it.

to be correct, you'd need to guess the himalaya (or other similar ride). although the bf does not like that one because whoever sits on the outside of the car gets smooshed by the other person the whole time. but i like it. it seems relatively safe and is only a little nauseating. the cars are all attached to one another so you can't fly off, etc.
