anyone know of any good places to rent near downtown/elon law? (under a mile preferred but this is evaporating fast) 6/28/2010 12:43:03 PM |

^^I like Indigo the Salon. Their cheaper version is called Indie the Salon, and it's a training salon. http://www.ndgo.com/documents/23.html They'll run you about $15-$30 for a mens cut.

^^ I see a lot of places for rent on Elm Street north of downtown, also Fisher Park. No idea what you're looking for, though.
^ Excellent. All of these places have shitty websites or none at all and I'm not going to call them all. 6/28/2010 12:47:07 PM |

^^^ what is your price range? the closer you get the downtown the more expensive it will be. I lived on Battleground when I worked downtown, and it was a 10 minute commute. if you are looking to rent a house, there are plenty off of Lawndale across from Target. 6/28/2010 12:50:51 PM |

$900 or less, doesn't smell like cats, and it's a complete shithole, old is ok, above retail is ok.
yeah we've got a line on a positive looking prospect (from looking in the windows at least) on Magnolia just south of fisher park, a different one on wharton looked good from the outside, but inside smelled like cats, door frames were about 3 inches shorter than me, tiny bathroom, and floors were more than just a little slanted....
got a notice about some place called "new town" or something off of n. church as well, might look over there if i have to. 6/28/2010 12:56:36 PM |

try where i live or the apt complex / condo complex around mine. they are technically condos but there are several for rent in my complex (country club condos) and the one that circles mine (forgot what it is called)
1700 N. Elm Street. just down from magnolia (i looked there too). i'd say you could rent mine but i think y'all wanted 2 bdrm and mine is 1bdrm. plus i alread rented it!
but there are several law students in here (i rented mine out to someone in your incoming class). and a bunch of young professionals. i've really liked living here.
so try country club (http://www.yostandlittle.com/communities/countryclubcondo.html). there are several for rent in here. if you want i can look around at the ones with signs in the windows and get you some #s?!
and the one that circles that is called brookside or something like that (100 sunset circle). i also looked at them and they are nice. then there are a couple down the street (condos) going away from downtown but i can't remember their names. also condos but again you'll find that several are for rent.
but what i came to ask ---> is elizabeth's pizza any good?6/28/2010 6:29:33 PM |

Elizabeth's isn't great, but it's completely edible. Just be prepared to wring the grease out prior to eating. Seriously, grease on everything, even the salads and pasta. Would I eat there again--yes, it's cheap, and it's not horrible. 6/28/2010 7:18:20 PM |

Mario's makes a good white pizza. I don't think I've had a bad time at Mario's yet.
Elizabeth's isn't bad. It's a step up from Papa Johns. The sauce is a little bland/watery imo. In fact all of their tomato sauces are a little bland. Worth it for a coupon. Not so sure if I would go out of my way without a deal of some sort. 6/28/2010 10:35:38 PM |

The best thing to get at Elizabeth's is the Sicilian style. It's like $20 but it's HUGE. We usually get it, eat like 2 slices each, then have lunch for the rest of the week. 6/29/2010 10:08:10 AM |

and yes, it is in a REALLY bad part of Burlington. There is a housing project area there called Beverly Hills, which I always got a kick out of.
Actually, I found the picture. It's Cum Park Grill:

It was fucking awesome! By far the best meal I have ever had in Greensboro. The only reason it was that much was because my GF is friends with the owners, waiter, and bartender so i tipped huge. I tipped the waiter $50 on $150 meal and I tipped the bartender $20 on a $25 bar tab. So I guess I'm wrong, it was only $245.
We had calamari as an appetizer, their bomb ass crab soup, I had rabbit and she had grouper.
We are going back for appetizers and dessert for my birthday next week.

Just noticed this:

I always used to go to Gene's Barber Shop on Spring Garden near UNCG. A real old-time barber shop with a slow pace and a vintage coke machine that dispenses glass bottles; kind of like stepping into a time warp. Super nice guys and they did a great job. I think the dude who cut my hair (Jimmy Nelson) has retired by now though.
Quote : | "Why is my trash container green and my recycling container brown

Dunno but it's been that way since like 1993. The trash cans were green before they had curbside pickup for recycling, maybe because it looked nicer, and I guess they didn't want to distribute new trash cans when they started the recycling program since the other ones were only a few years old.

Green cans are nice with a wide wheel base and lower center of gravity. The brown cans are way too narrow at the wheel base, thinner wheels, and top heavy. 8/6/2010 10:23:08 AM |
