amato's system was simpler and he recruited better. so, even though we didnt have all the players we needed, they downside was a lot less than a defense where no one covers anything.

have a good d line? play bump and run and give them time to get there. you risk DBs getting beat one on one, but that doesnt matter if the QB is running for his life.

It's all about taking the risks that are in your favor. Archer is an idiot who cannot correctly evaluate risk.

^Thats basically what we are running now, except instead of bump and run, it's maintain 5 yards of distance between the defender and receiver, and hope that the front 4 get to the qb before he can throw a pass.

I want to correct 2 things on this page.


1st, Amato had lost his edge in recruiting, and we picked up in that department significantly in O'brien's first full class and has been steady since.


2nd, We never had a problem with defense under amato. We had some bad games, but we were never consistently terrible and usually not terrible for entire games on D. When we gave up lots of points, it was generally thanks mostly to our suckitude on offense.


this team is not good. Our offense is ok, but they are sucking now because they have to try to score on every posession. I'm tired of hearing people bitch about Bible when he has to go for broke on every posession.

because we had a lot of talent back on offense including the best qb in recent acc history and thought we had a halfway decent coaching staff. turns out we have the most incompetent coaching staff in the country and wilson is likely a human after all.

Now we're on the bottom of whats by far the worst division in all of the major conferences. We are what Duke was...and it only gets worse from here.

The only thing we were consistently bad at under amato was qb.
