A couple bad drops by Crayton this game. Sadly he is still the most reliable healthy receiver.

Don't like this coming down to a Kris Brown 40+ yard FG. Kaeding would definitely miss it though with the game on the line.

Terrible coaching. If we could've just kicked a FG and not used a timeout we would've had a chance to call three timeouts if we miss the FG.

There's no way you should go for it there but there's no reason to waste a timeout. That is terrible coaching.

San Diego is +31 in point differential, but 2-5... that is a horrible failure of a statistic. Can't win close ones...

^ FG was always the only correct move there.

FG was the right move with a newly signed kicker that fucked up two placekicks ? Granted the onside kick was perfect...

It's not like Kris Brown is some rookie kicker who has never kicked a FG in this league. Dude has been in the league for 11 years.

How many drops in that game?

The fact that the #1 WR in this game should be the #4 WR is really biting them in the ass.

Wow. Top 3 in offense AND top 3 in defense in the NFL and they're 2-5? LA sports anchors just said he's never ever seen a team as dumb as this Chargers team.

yea and hes known for choking. dude is the reason mario is on the texans

not saying they had any other play there. even if you run the FG unit out there without blowing the TO they wouldve screwed up somehow

why norv why!???

I must hand it to the chargers, they find the most creative ways to lose games. In the first half we were practically begging the pats to stomp on over us. Fortuantly they were playing shitty too.

3 fumbles and an interception during 4 consecutive possesions. Two fumbles where we literally handed the ball over. I don't blame the kicker. The game should never had relied on him to begin with.

I just don't get what to "fix" in order to make the chargers win. The panthers have obvious problems. With the chargers, its a new issue every week. Special teams letting the other team run the ball back. Defense letting the other team running the score up the first half. Having two punts blocked. Now this week the offense giving the ball on a silver platter to tom brady.

Honestly we are lucky the score was not 59-20.

It is the charger game plan. Find stupid ways to dig your self in a hole first half. Have philip throw 300 yards and catch back up during the 2nd half to get or hopes all up. Then with the clock winding down with ball in your possesion, screw up or miss a clutch fg to lose the game.

Cry that you barely loss, rinse, and repeat next week.

Oh well they lost. Great game though and Rivers was pretty clutch in the end. The dropped passes are Kaeding would have missed that FG too. Dude melts under pressure like butter.

They had the ball with 2 minutes left and three timeouts in Patriots territory and the best they could is a damn 45 yard field goal attempt?? (before the 5-yard penalty of course)

The Chargers obviously have some problems with special teams and just taking care of the ball in general. But they have got to come out and play better in the first half and Philip Rivers and company have to finish games. Rivers is pretty much the opposite of clutch this year.

^ yep because the two fourth quarter TD drives were horrible and it is Rivers fault that WRs kept dropping balls all over the field. Oh yeah and it is his fault that Brown missed the FG. The Chargers are not losing because of Philip Rivers.

After the false start they should have gone for it. There is no reason for a failure to try for a 50 yard attemp like that. I think they should have let rivers kik it if anyone. He's the only one that showed up to play.

I didn't say that. But they sure aren't winning because of him either. This is what I said:

People keep putting words in my mouth because they think I'm blasting Rivers...which I'm not. But to say he's "clutch" would be incorrect. He hasn't been playing well in the first half, he usually has a very good second half, then when its time for the final drive, he (and the rest of the Charger's team) doesn't come through.

^Yeah, but he had to be clutch just to get those 17 other points to put them in the position to not be clutch on that final drive?

Edit: BTW, what down was it when that personal foul was called on the Chargers? I think it may have been an unconverted 3rd down. The Patriots would go on to score on that drive. I couldn't believe the actual foul, the guy was a complete idiot for shoving after the play... and right in front of two refs. Norv just sat there with that blank expression on his face. Should have been screaming at that guy, that could have easily been the difference as well.

Not an indictment on the Chargers as much as one on all the coaches in the league...

Seems like teams settle for game tying or winning FGS from 40+ way too often. I know these kickers are the best in the world and still make them 80 percent of the time, but I'd like to see a little more urgency from all coaches to get down into "gimme range".

Dude he was extremely clutch the entire 4th quarter. IIRC he hit pretty much every pass in that final drive except for one throwaway. Crayton dropped an easy first down though, I guess that means Rivers isn't clutch.

Keep jacking off to Chargers losses Jbrick

Here's the play by play

1st and 10 at NE 47 (Shotgun) P.Rivers pass short middle to A.Gates to NE 35 for 12 yards (J.Wilhite).
1st and 10 at NE 35 (Shotgun) P.Rivers pass incomplete short middle to P.Crayton (K.Arrington). Drop
2nd and 10 at NE 35 (Shotgun) P.Rivers pass incomplete deep left to P.Crayton. throw away
3rd and 10 at NE 35 (Shotgun) P.Rivers pass short right to A.Gates to NE 27 for 8 yards (S.Brown). Only open receiver, got into FG range

Rivers also played well in the first half, except that fumble where he took his eyes off the ball and had to fall on it.

[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 12:35 PM. Reason : By the way, why don't you talk about how "clutch" brady was in that game]
