http://www.onlocationvacations.com/2011/06/09/the-walking-dead-updates-zombie-school-this-weekend-cobb-county-filming-a-new-toy-line/
Quote : | "The Walking Dead wraps up filming on Hwy 20, outside of Atlanta, today where they are have been filming another one of the show’s infamous ‘deserted highway after the zombie apocalypse’ scenes.
CBSAtlanta posted a few aerial shots of Hwy 20 which show dozens of abandoned cars on the road.
Next up, the show moves to Cobb County on Monday where they’ll be shooting a scene involving “simulated gunfire as actors are confronted by a horde of zombies” at Cobb Parkway and Riverwood Parkway.
But first, the actors portraying those zombies will need to learn the ropes at ZOMBIE SCHOOL! One of readers, who wished to stay anonymous, was hired to play a zombie in Monday’s scene but will need to attend zombie school on Saturday first! Our tipster was reluctant to give us any details (we know they are very strict about any potential plot “leaks”), and wouldn’t tell us where the school was taking place, but did confirm all of the “zombies” would be learning how to walk and perform like a “real” zombie.
As we’ve mentioned, Extras Casting Atlanta handles extras casting for the show, including zombies.
In other Walking Dead news, AMC has released the first official photos from season 2, the new zombie toy line hits shelves this fall, and there are rumors AMC has something special planned for us and our fellow San Diego Comic-Con attendees next month, can’t wait to see it! Here’s what they did last year.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Halloween." |

Does anyone have a torrent for the last 10 issues of the comic? I downloaded a torrent when the show came out in November and haven't found any since.
After reading all the comics, I am sad that the show has no chance to follow the comics at this point. 7/14/2011 8:10:32 AM |

from an interview with Frank Darabont, take from it what you will:
Quote : | "Let me just begin by stating the obvious: that it was all pretty overblown. It left the impression that I walked in one day and murdered 12 people. Would you like to know how many writers we were talking about? Two. My thought had been that they’d under-delivered, and a change was necessary. I had to do too much of it by myself last year, and that was only six episodes. This season, it’s 13 and we’ve hired a fantastic writing staff. We hired Glen Mazzara as our Number Two in the room. We consider him our head writer and he’s just a fantastic asset. We’ve also got three other staff writers in Scott Gimple, Evan Reilly from Rescue Me, and Angela Kang. Plus Executive Producer Robert Kirkman, who wrote the original comic book, is also writing for us." |

Quote : | "AMC broke its silence on the recent major showrunner shakeup that’s impacted its highest-rated series, The Walking Dead. No big revelations, but here’s the statement:
The Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzara, writer and executive producer, is expanding his responsibilities to assume the role of showrunner. AMC is grateful to executive producer, writer and pilot director Frank Darabont whose contributions to the success of The Walking Dead are innumerable. We continue to discuss his ongoing role with the series.
Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead graphic novels, executive producer and writer on the series, will remain in this role and will continue to steward the brand. Gale Anne Hurd will remain in her role as executive producer. The production continues on schedule for an Oct. 16 premiere." |

You could argue that Darabont was the one halfway keeping it on the rails, and without him it will get even worse. I don't know that that is necessarily the case but it's certainly possible. 7/28/2011 2:11:59 PM |
aimorris All American 15213 Posts user info edit post |
hm I guess. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't a lot of the scenes taken directly from the graphic novel? It was only 6 episodes too - it's not like he had to maneuver through an entire season. Aside from people who just like zombies and will watch anything with zombies in it regardless of how shitty the writing is (plenty of people used that justification in here) I think the only thing "keeping it on the rails" was the graphic novel's rep and people hoping the show eventually matches that level. That's the only reason I stuck through it and will come back for S2. 7/28/2011 2:22:45 PM |

Exactly, episode one was extremely faithful to the comic and was legitimately good tv, then they introduced a whole bunch of shitty one dimensional characters and added unnecessary plot lines. 7/28/2011 3:28:30 PM |

^^ Shawshank was a huge hit. He also did The Green Mile, which i thought was pretty good. Maybe not as good as Shawshank, but very good. Of course, both are Stephen King stories... so maybe he should get a lot of credit there. Darabont also wrote the Frankenstein movie with DeNiro.. which was decent. A lot of big name directors don't really have that many movies.
Having directed both Shawshank and the Green mile goes a long way. Enough so that it gives him plenty of credit in TV land. Plus, after reading that article, I think it's more to do with their VP. Apparently the show runner for Madmen (their longest running show, i believe) won't even talk to the guy. 8/12/2011 10:04:26 AM |

I also agree that I dislike this trend, but this show is made to premier during the Halloween season and if they let it run the midpoint would fall right around Christmas and would kill the ratings. I think AMC know people will watch this season but unless they really produce something great their hot streak might be coming to an end. 9/1/2011 5:50:18 PM |

idk, the more I think about this, the more I like it. I do hate the trend of splitting regular seasons generally. But considering that TWD was only 6 episodes last season, this is a little different.
I have hated the wait since the end of last season. This will give me the same amount of episodes I had last season, and then another 6 in a much shorter time-frame than what I waited this time around. And then there will (hopefully) be another 6 in a relatively short time-frame.
So yeah, I'm gonna look at it like they're keeping the seasons the same length but are airing seasons twice as often. It's all about perspective. 9/1/2011 11:49:32 PM |
